CANCER SCREENING AT AMS: With the recent passing of NASCAR driver Bobby Hamilton from head and neck cancer, this terrible killer is all too relevant. Now Atlanta Motor Speedway is teaming with the Yul Brynner Foundation in honor of Bobby Hamilton to help race fans with free early screening for this devastating disease, which kills more than 15,000 people each year.

Members of Bobby Hamilton Racing, including Lori Hamilton, wife of the late racer, will be joining the screening event to help communicate the importance of early detection. Bobby Hamilton announced during last spring's Atlanta race that he was diagnosed with throat cancer and would begin his treatments. As Hamilton fought the disease, he became a strong advocate of early detection.

It will be the second year for the screening at AMS, with six private screening rooms available in the corporate display area in front of Atlanta Motor Speedway. The screening rooms will be open Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will be manned by doctors and nurses.

Last year, head and neck specialists screened more than 200 race fans at AMS, catching many pre-malignant lesions and even some early cancers.

BUSCH GOES WILD: Kyle Busch brought along some animal friends Friday at Atlanta Motor Speedway to announce that Sea World & Busch Gardens Conservation Fund and Garden Safe garden products will be featured on his No. 5 Busch car in Saturday's Nicorette 300.

Garden Safe will be donating $100 per lap for each lap Busch completes during the race to the Conservation Fund. If the No. 5 goes to Victory Lane, Garden Safe will double the donation. In addition, Garden Safe - an organic lawn care product line - will donate 50 cents for every Garden Safe product sold at Lowe's locations nationwide March 15-April 30.

Over the squeals of Buffy the Otter - and with Maddie the Bald Eagle defecating in the background - Busch discussed why he was so excited about this partnership.

"I'm definitely an animal lover; I don't go too many places without Kelly and Suzy (his two West Highland Terriers)," he said.

HARVICK MEETS A NEW FRIEND: As part of his Winner's Circle appearance Thursday in Atlanta, Kevin Harvick stopped by the Georgia Aquarium. There he hooked up with a new buddy, Marina the Beluga Whale. No word on whether Harvick would be serving caviar at his next event. (Hi res photo available at : http://www.atlantamotorspeedway.com/images/gallery/harvick_aquarium.jpg)
