Here at Atlanta Motor Speedway, thrilling finishes to races have become the norm, with some of the closest finishes in NASCAR history having happened at Atlanta. But when it came to the 1978 Dixie 500, the subject of this week's AMS Flashback, the outcome was decided off the track – not at the start/finish line.

1985 turned out to be a groundbreaking year for Georgia native Bill Elliott, as the Dawsonville, Ga., native took the sporting world by storm by winning the "Winston Million" and earning himself a spot on the cover of Sports Illustrated. But Elliott's dominance of winning 11 races wasn't just limited to NASCAR's superspeedways in 1985. Awesome Bill From Dawsonville found success at other tracks too, including Atlanta.

If you're a  race fan that only purchased tickets to the March NASCAR weekend this year at Atlanta Motor Speedway, you'll have a chance to lock in your seats for NASCAR night racing's return to Atlanta Motor Speedway on Labor Day weekend 2011 before tickets go on sale to the public at the start of 2011! Information on renewing your seats and campsites is currently being sent out via mail and e-mail, so keep an eye on your mail box and e-mail in-box. Also, be sure to check your e-mail spam folder, as sometimes e-mails are inadvertently routed into a spam or junk mail folder, depending on what e-mail service you are using.
