Atlanta Motor Speedway officials announced today that EasyCare, a leader in the vehicle service contracts industry, will sponsor the speedway¿s inaugural NASCAR Craftsman Truck race on Saturday, March 13.
The race, which will be held during the March 12-14 Golden Corral 500 weekend, will be known as the EasyCare Vehicle Service Contracts 200.
EasyCare is a leading brand for APCO (Automobile Protection Corporation), which markets and administers vehicle service contracts (extended warranty) on all makes of cars, truck and RV¿s.
¿We¿ve had a longstanding, successful relationship with Atlanta Motor Speedway and Speedway Motorsports, and we are excited to become a sponsor for this great event,¿ said Larry Dorfman, President and CEO of APCO. ¿By giving our clients the chance to experience a Craftsman Truck race and a NASCAR Nextel Cup race in the same weekend, especially at AMS, we are assured that they will have a great time and that we will have the opportunity get significant exposure for our EasyCare product.¿
The excitement about the inaugural NASCAR Craftsman Truck race at Atlanta, a 200-mile event, has been widespread. Ever since the initial announcement was made last fall, drivers have been predicting a fast, action-packed race.
¿This race is going to be great,¿ veteran driver Bobby Hamilton said. ¿You¿ll probably see more lead changes in our 200-mile race than you¿d ever seen in a 500-mile car race ¿ and here in Atlanta, that¿s saying a whole lot. There are great fans in Atlanta ¿ they can get a little wild, but they¿re fun.¿

After spending two straight days testing the American Speed Association (ASA) car on Atlanta Motor Speedway¿s high banks, Atlanta native Mike Garvey is counting down the days until next fall¿s race.
The ASA drivers will compete in a 100-lap event following Georgia-Pacific Qualifying Night next Oct. 29.
¿Man, I love this place,¿ Garvey said. ¿The car is really stable here. This test went a lot smoother than we anticipated. The way the car ran this week, I know we¿re capable of putting on a great show for the fans.¿
Garvey tested at least 10 tire combinations for BF Goodrich on Wednesday, narrowing the scope for Thursday¿s stability and speed runs.

11/19/03
Atlanta native Mike Garvey made laps at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Wednesday, becoming the first American Speed Association (ASA) racer to drive on the 1.54-mile high banked oval since it was reconfigured in 1997.
Testing at least 10 tire combinations for BF Goodrich in preparation for the fall 2004 ASA race at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Garvey ran a top speed of 170.218 mph (32.57 seconds).
ASA President and CEO Steve Dale, also a Georgia native, was expecting the fiberglass-bodied ASA stock cars to turn fast laps before Garvey ever took to the track.
¿We aren¿t going to be Winston Cup fast, but what will amaze everybody is that we have 350 less horsepower and our speeds are still very close,¿ Dale said. NASCAR Winston Cup drivers generally test in the 30-second range, while the qualifying record is 28.074 seconds.
Dale said the team spent most of Wednesday looking for the right tire compound and would spend Thursday working on speed and stability.

If you were one of the lucky fans to get tickets to the fall Speed Zone with Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kurt Busch and Sterling Marlin, then you know how exciting Atlanta Motor Speedway¿s new fan hospitality program is ¿ and you¿ll be thrilled to know that Speed Zone will be back for the March 14 Golden Corral 500.
Fans will once again be treated to driver appearances on race morning, with exact drivers and appearance times to be announced in coming weeks.
There will be two all-new packages for fans to choose from to be a part of Speed Zone:
Speed Zone -- $99
Speed Zone PLUS -- $199

When the American Speed Association (ASA) returns to Atlanta Motor Speedway in the fall of 2004, none of the series¿ regular drivers will have ever raced on the 1.54-mile oval.
One local ASA driver, however, will get a sneak peak at the track this Wednesday and Thursday.
BF Goodrich will sponsor a two-day tire test this week with Atlanta native Mike Garvey, who will be the first current competitor to run an ASA car at Atlanta Motor Speedway. ASA last raced in Atlanta almost two decades ago, before many of the series¿ young drivers were born.

This special discount package will allow fans to see all three days of racing action for just $59.

Already a veteran of Atlanta Motor Speedway at the ripe old age of 18, Shelby Howard toured the high-banked speedway in a different vehicle Tuesday: a Toyota Tundra.
Howard, the development driver for Toyota and Bill Davis Racing, is helping the team gather information for its truck program next year, which will race for the first time at Atlanta Motor Speedway in the inaugural NASCAR Craftsman Truck race on Saturday, March 13. Howard hopes to be the driver in those events, but so far no official announcement has been made.
Either way, Howard is trying to learn as much as he can for Toyota and BDR, and also trying to acclimate himself to a completely new vehicle.
¿It¿s a lot different than what I drove here in the past,¿ Howard said. ¿It has a lot more drag overall and a smaller motor, so we shouldn¿t have to lift ¿ but so far we are.¿
The team wasn¿t looking for speed during Tuesday¿s test, when Howard had a fast lap at 32.23 seconds (172.014 mph). Also testing was Matt Crafton, who turned the fast lap of the day in 31.44 seconds (176.336 mph).

Kevin Harvick¿s NASCAR Craftsman Truck team tested Tuesday evening with driver Matt Crafton, getting a jump on testing for next March¿s inaugural truck race, and the Toyota development team of Bill Davis Racing will join the test tonight. The 200-mile event is scheduled for Saturday, March 13, at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
During the four-hour evening test, Crafton and his No. 6 GM Goodwrench Chevrolet truck reached a top speed of 177.408 mph (31.25 seconds) around the 1.54-mile high-banked track. Crafton will be joined during tonight¿s test by Shelby Howard, who will pilot the Bill Davis Racing/Toyota development truck.

Three Craftsman Truck Series drivers made laps at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Tuesday and Wednesday, testing both 2003 and 2004 Dodges for Bobby Hamilton Racing.
Chad Chaffin, driver of the No. 18 Dickies Dodge, spent most of the day in the 2004 truck.
¿We¿re taking different parts and pieces and trying things out with this ¿04 truck,¿ Chaffin said. ¿I guess we¿re just playing test team for these guys a little bit.¿
Chaffin¿s fast lap in the 2004 Dodge was clocked at 32.17 seconds (172.174 mph). Hamilton had the fastest lap of the day, circling the 1.54-mile quad-oval in 31.5 seconds (176.112 mph).

Race weekend for $199.
It sounds too good to be true. But thanks to Atlanta Motor Speedway and Vroomz.com, that¿s the average price that hundreds of very happy fans paid for three days of race tickets and two nights¿ accommodations to last month¿s Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500.
The campaign was such an overwhelming success that Vroomz.com plans to expand it for the March 12-14 Golden Corral 500 at Atlanta, allowing even more race fans to save a tremendous amount of money, time and hassle by providing one-stop shopping for race weekend packages.
For the spring race, fans may once again purchase the complete weekend package, which will include tickets to the March 12 Georgia Power Qualifying Day, March 13 NASCAR Craftsman Truck race and March 14 Golden Corral 500, as well as two nights at a nearby hotel, with prices at around $199 per person. But there will also be many more options, including a one-night hotel/race package beginning at just $99 per person.

Georgia¿s own Bill Elliott will close out an impressive month of October by being honored in the NASCAR Victory Lap tribute prior to Sunday¿s Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
The program, honoring R. J. Reynolds and past NASCAR Winston Cup champions, will make its sixth stop of the season during pre-race ceremonies, where Elliott will run a few laps in his No. 9 Dodge Dealers/Victory Lap Dodge.
With two recent top-5 finishes, including a second at Kansas Speedway and a fourth at Lowe¿s Motor Speedway, Elliott sits 10th in NASCAR¿s Top 10. Last Sunday¿s ninth-place finish at Martinsville continued his autumn upswing.
The 1988 NASCAR Winston Cup champion, Elliott has 43 career victories. His most recent were back-to-back wins in 2002, which included the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
RICKY RUDD TO MAKE 800TH CAREER START: Ricky Rudd, driver of the No. 21 Motorcraft Racing Ford Taurus for the Wood Brothers, is expected to make his 800th career NASCAR Winston Cup start during the Oct. 26 Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

While most young race fans will be watching the Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 on TV this weekend, Hunter Moates from Daviston, Alabama and Zachary "Z-man" Morgan from Lebanon, Missouri will be doing something every NASCAR fan would love to have the opportunity to do.
Hunter has been named one of the Grand Marshals this Sunday at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. Grandpa Jim Ryan and Grandma Angie Ryan, both members of the RedHead Pro Hunting Team, say Hunter is taking this all in stride. What else can you expect though from a 6-year old who has already called in many a wild turkey and even an elk for his "granny."
Z-man is a 10-year old who loves to fish and is a devout NASCAR fan with a smile as big as his heart. He will take part in the official start of Sunday's race. NASCAR drivers who competed in the first Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 in Atlanta back in March still remember the outgoing youngster on crutches making his way through the pit area greeting every driver he saw. Zachary suffers from cerebral palsy but that doesn't stop him from doing just about anything he wants to do.
"Kids like Hunter and Zach are the future to continuing our outdoor heritage of hunting and fishing," said Bass Pro Shops Founder Johnny Morris. "They are the ones who will continue our conservation efforts and protect our fish and wildlife for generations to come."

With more than 125,000 people expected for Sunday's Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, heavy preparations are under way for what is annually the largest sporting event in Georgia.
Signs are being hung, logos being painted and tents being erected. All of the speedway¿s lush 870 acres of land will be in use for this gigantic racing weekend.
"When you look at the attendance just for the spring and fall races, that¿s equivalent to filling up the Georgia Dome several times, just for a single race," said Gary Stokan, president of the Atlanta Sports Council. "And that doesn¿t even include the support races at AMS."
Atlanta Motor Speedway¿s two marquee events, the spring and fall Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 NASCAR Winston Cup races, contribute an estimated $455 million to the Atlanta economy ¿ 51 percent of the city¿s total revenue derived from sports. That¿s larger than the Super Bowl, the Peach Bowl, and the Atlanta Braves, Hawks, Falcons and Thrashers combined.
"Atlanta Motor Speedway is obviously responsible for a huge part of the sports business in this town," Stokan said. "Race events bring people from all over the world to Atlanta, much more than the local teams and local events."
Fans from all 50 states and more than a dozen foreign countries are expected for this international event, which will be televised live on NBC beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Bobby Labonte was 18 years old when he first raced at Atlanta Motor Speedway. It was a Daytona Dash race ¿ now called Goody¿s Dash Series ¿ on the 1.5-mile oval that was then called Atlanta International Raceway.
Everything about the track in those days was different ¿ the name, the track layout, the start/finish line, the grandstands, the garages, the press box, Victory Lane.
About the only thing that hasn¿t changed in the 21 years since is Labonte¿s love for Atlanta.
"I hadn¿t run anything over a half-mile track before and had probably only run five races in my life, and we came down here that day and ran third," Labonte said. "That was an exciting day, to come here and run third my first time here."
Things have just gotten better for Labonte through the years. He now leads all active drivers in wins at Atlanta Motor Speedway with six (Georgia native Bill Elliott has five, plus one non-points race win). He¿ll be looking for No. 7 when the NASCAR Winston Cup drivers return to Atlanta this weekend for the Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500.

With adult tickets just $20 and children under 16 admitted free, the Friday, Oct. 24 Georgia-Pacific Qualifying Night at Atlanta Motor Speedway will be one of the best deals in all of racing.
It will be the first night qualifying session for the NASCAR Winston Cup cars at Atlanta Motor Speedway in the track¿s 43-year history. But there will be much more than just that at Friday¿s Georgia-Pacific Qualifying Night.
After the qualifying session is over, the Goody¿s Dash cars will rumble on the quarter-mile Thunder Ring, the frontstretch oval, for the Brawny 150 Presented by Pork The Other White Meat. The final event of the 2003 season for the Goody¿s Dash series, this race is sure to have some fireworks of its own.
But the fun starts well before the sun goes down. Gates open at noon and the Busch Series drivers will qualifying for the Aaron¿s 312 beginning at 1:40 p.m. The Winston Cup drivers will practice from 3:20-5:20 p.m., and the Busch Series happy hour will be held 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Robert Huffman made his Atlanta Motor Speedway debut in 1992, turning 59 laps in the Busch Series race before pulling into the garage and settling with a 35th-place finish.
He hasn¿t been on the 1.54-mile high-banked track since. Huffman, a 35-year-old father of two, hasn¿t totally shied away from Atlanta Motor Speedway in the last 11 years, however.
He races in the Goody¿s Dash Series, a touring division of NASCAR. Once a year, they duke it out on the quarter-mile Thunder Ring situated on the frontstretch of Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Huffman¿s No. 37 White House Apple Juice team scored a sixth-place finish in the 2002 Goody¿s Dash Series race in Atlanta and should secure its fifth series championship at the track in Friday¿s Brawny 150 Presented by Pork The Other White Meat.

Overview of Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 traffic plan
The concept will remain unchanged from the spring race: if you come in from the north, you¿ll leave from the north. If you come in from the south, you¿ll leave from the south.
Below are the specific guidelines that will be followed:
ENTERING THE SPEEDWAY:
· If you come in from the North (traveling South on Hwy 19/41 thru Jonesboro, traveling West from McDonough Road or traveling West from Hwy 81) you will be directed to parking lots on the North side of the property.
· If you come to the facility from the South (traveling North on Hwy 19/41 from Griffin or traveling West on Hwy 20 or Hampton-Locust Grove Road) you will be directed to parking lots on the South side of the property.
EXITING THE SPEEDWAY:
Fans will leave the same way they came in. If they entered from the North, they will be directed Northbound on Hwy 19/41. From there, fans can proceed on Hwy 19/41 through Jonesboro to I-75, or they can turn east onto Hwy 81 or McDonough Road. Fans who enter from the South or West you will be directed out on the same roads.
Again this race, fans exiting on Petty Blvd. (south access road for the speedway) will not be allowed to turn left at the intersection and go North on Hwy 19/41. They must proceed east on Hwy 20 or go south on Hwy 19/41 toward Griffin.

Brian Vickers is looking forward to his 20th birthday, an occasion he plans to celebrate on track at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Vickers will turn 20 on Friday, Oct. 24, the day he will try to qualify for his second NASCAR Winston Cup race.
"There are not enough words in the English language to describe all the feelings I¿ve gone through and the excitement and everything else," Vickers said. "The opportunity that (team owner) Rick Hendrick has offered me is tremendous. This is a dream come true for me."
Less than 18 months ago, Vickers was a senior at Trinity High School in Trinity, N.C. He often bummed a morning ride to school with Justin and Kristen Labonte, whose dad, former NASCAR Winston Cup champion Terry Labonte, sometimes drove the trio.
He admits he though it was "kind of cool" to have former Winston Cup Champion Terry Labonte take him to class.
These days, Vickers and Labonte are teammates at Hendrick Motorsports, which also fields cars for Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson.
"It¿s funny how things have worked out. Two years ago if I would have seen a guy like Jeff Gordon, I would have asked for his autograph," said Vickers. "Now I can call him up and ask him for advice and he¿ll help me out any way he can."
Vickers will attempt to qualify the No.25 UAW-Delphi Chevrolet for the Oct. 26 Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 Winston Cup race. It will be a busy weekend for Vickers, who will also be trying to gain ground in his quest for the Busch Series championship in his No. 5 GMAC Chevrolet.

Sometimes being a couch potato does pay off.
Just a couple of years ago, T.J. Majors spent his days in his parent¿s New York home playing online video games. His favorite was a racing simulation game, one he quickly mastered. His only competition came from another video game fan in North Carolina.
Majors and his online rival became fast friends, exchanging e-mails and engaging in hard-fought online racing battles.
It wasn¿t long before Majors learned the identity of his new friend. Imagine his surprise when he found out it was NASCAR Winston Cup superstar Dale Earnhardt Jr.
"If you ask me, I beat Dale Jr. 80 percent of the time, but Dale would say it was around 50-50," Majors said. "I was pretty good at changing setups and making adjustments to the car, so I would try to help Dale on those things. Those simulated games are so realistic now and it really carries over to the track. Things just progressed from there with Dale and I."
Now Majors is putting what he learned online to use on the track. He is leading the rookie of the year standings in the NASCAR Goody¿s Dash Series and will try to cement that award during his first trip to Atlanta Motor Speedway next weekend in the Oct. 24 Brawny 150 Presented by Pork The Other White Meat. The Goody¿s Dash cars will put on a 150-lap shootout on the tight quarter-mile frontstretch track at Atlanta.

Racer David Green describes himself as one of the "gray-haired guys," an elder statesman of the Busch Series who finds himself racing teenagers young enough to be his kids.
Green, 45, currently leads the championship points, but is only 36 points ahead of the second-place racer, 19-year-old Brian Vickers.
"There¿s no doubting their talent or the quality of cars these young guys have," Green said. "Not only do they have top-notch, Winston Cup affiliated teams, but they are good drivers. Some of us have kids who are almost their age. Brian was playing with blocks last time I won a championship."
While Green is joking, he¿s not far from the truth. Vickers turned 11 less than a month before Green was awarded the 1994 Busch Series title.
When the Busch Series visits Atlanta Motor Speedway for the Aaron¿s 312 on Oct. 25, there will only be three races left before the series champion is crowned. Green knows he¿ll be in one of two positions ¿ either fighting off pursuing up-and-coming drivers or chasing them to regain the lead.
"This championship isn¿t going to be decided until the checkered flag waves for the last race this season," he said. "It¿s the closest points race from first to fifth in Busch Series history, and that isn¿t going to change. Atlanta is going to be very important in deciding this thing."

Winston Cup Series driver Ward Burton spent a second day testing at Atlanta Motor Speedway, preparing for his inaugural run in the No. 0 Netzero HiSpeed Pontiac for the Oct. 26 Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500.
After turning his first laps in the car Tuesday, Burton and his new crew spent Wednesday looking for more speed. They found it, gaining .35 of a second to turn a fast lap Wednesday in 29.48 seconds, or 188.060 mph.
"(Crew Chief) Tony Furr and the guys worked late in the garage last night, and we¿re really shaping up now," Burton said. "It¿s taken a lot of work, but this team¿s coming together pretty quickly. We had a real good feel all morning. We¿re making a lot of progress every time we go out on the track now."

When Ron Young locks the door of his Conyers, Ga., garage and heads home after a 12-hour day, he isn¿t thinking about watching television or relaxing on the couch. He¿s thinking about race set-ups and shock packages.
Young, a driver-owner in the NASCAR Busch Series, prepares his own car each week and travels to the racetrack from his home in Conyers, sometimes pulling his car to the track himself.
¿I¿ve been working to get to this point all of my life,¿ Young said. ¿¿I¿ve been working on race cars since I was 10, and never wanted to do anything else. We¿ve had to work harder than anyone out there just to get to where we are today.¿
As one of the only Busch Series drivers based in Georgia, Young often travels more than four times the 300-mile race distance just to get to the track. He¿ll be in luck on Oct. 25, though, when the Busch Series hits Atlanta Motor Speedway for the Aaron¿s 312.
¿One thing¿s for sure about Atlanta,¿ Young said. ¿No matter the outcome of the race, I won¿t have nearly as long a drive home as usual.¿

The road to the NASCAR Goody¿s Dash Series concludes at the quarter-mile flat oval at Atlanta Motor Speedway with the running of the Brawny 150 presented by Pork The Other White Meat on Friday, Oct. 24. Series points leader Robert Huffman (No. 37 White House Apple Juice Toyota) has virtually clinched the championship heading into next week¿s finale, but the rest of the points positions - and the prestigious rookie of the year award - will be decided at this event.
Huffman, of Claremont, N.C., leads all Goody¿s Dash Series drivers in victories this season (three), and with his fifth Goody¿s Dash Series title at hand, Huffman will make NASCAR history by giving Toyota its first NASCAR championship. Huffman will also enter the record books as the final NASCAR champion of the Goody¿s Dash Series. In 2004, BRDAYTONA, a Florida-based motorsports promotion company, will take over the sanctioning and operation of the series.
¿I am excited about heading into Atlanta and being able to wrap the championship there,¿ Huffman said. ¿With this Championship being the fifth of my career it is pretty awesome. To be the last Goody¿s Dash Series Champion after doing this for 10 years, and to be able to capture five championships and tie the great Dean Combs makes this championship run really special.¿

NASCAR Busch series regular and occasional Winston Cup driver Bobby Hamilton Jr. led the speed chart Tuesday at Atlanta Motor Speedway as 13 drivers and teams prepared for the Oct. 24-26 Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 weekend.
Hamilton Jr. turned a lap in 29.26 seconds (189.473 mph), the fastest of this week's two-day test session. Hamilton will run both races next weekend, the Oct. 25 Aaron's 312 Busch Series race and the Oct. 26 Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500.
"We made two qualifying runs today, and that was our second run, so we brought her back in," Hamilton Jr. said. "This is the best car I've ever had here, and I'm definitely looking forward to coming back next weekend."
Other Winston Cup drivers testing Tuesday included Winston Cup drivers Ward Burton in the No. 0 NetZero Pontiac and Mike Wallace in the No. 09 Miccosukee Dodge. Busch drivers who tested were Hank Parker Jr., Brian Vickers (in the No. 5 GMAC Chevrolet), Ron Hornaday, Mike Bliss, Billy Bigley Jr., Kyle Busch, David Stremme, Ashton Lewis, Paul Wolfe and Jeremy Clements.

Mercury Records recording artist Mark Wills will sing the national anthem prior to the start of the Oct. 26 Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 Winston Cup race at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
¿It¿s always an honor to get the sing the national anthem because it¿s our country¿s song,¿ Wills said. ¿But singing it at Atlanta Motor Speedway is especially an honor because I get to sing in my own backyard and in front of more than 100,000 people with as much interest in racing that I have.¿
Wills will be reprising his role as anthem singer; he also performed ¿The Star Spangled Banner¿ prior to the 1999 fall race at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Wills¿ most recent chart-topper, ¿19 Something¿ topped the singles charts for seven weeks and set a record for most plays for one song during a single week.

Meeting race car drivers and helping children in need - it doesn¿t get much better than that.
Atlanta race fans will have the opportunity to do both those things on Oct. 25 at the ¿On Track For Charity¿ fundraising event during the Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 race weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The walk, which will benefit the Victory Junction Gang Camp and Speedway Children's Charities, will feature race fans walking right alongside their favorite drivers on the famed 1.54-mile quad-oval.
After the Aaron¿s 312 Busch Series race on Oct. 25, NASCAR fans who have registered for the event will have the opportunity to walk the track at Atlanta Motor Speedway along with various NASCAR drivers including Kyle Petty, Steve Park and Jeff Green.
During this family-friendly event - which will begin at approximately 4 p.m. - fans will have the opportunity to get a closer look at the 1.54-mile quad-oval, including the sharp 24-degree banking.
Funds raised from the event will reach thousands of children involved in various health, education and social programs through grants provided by Speedway Children's Charities to youth-related organizations. In addition, funds will help bring children with life-threatening illnesses to the racing-themed Victory Junction Gang Camp, scheduled to open in 2004 in Randleman, N.C.
The pre-registration fee is $20 until Oct. 17; children under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult and can participate for free. All pre-registered participants will receive an event T-shirt along with a goody bag filled with NASCAR products donated by NASCAR sponsors and licensees. Registration can be done online at www.speedwaycharities.org or by calling (704) 455-4396.

Eight NASCAR drivers made laps Monday on the high-banked 1.54-mile oval at Atlanta Motor Speedway, preparing for the Oct. 24- 26 Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 Weekend.
Part-time Winston Cup racer Bobby Hamilton Jr. knew his No. 35 Winston Cup machine was going to be good when he posted the fastest lap of the day just three laps into the test session. Hamilton, who is also a full-time Busch Series driver, circled the speedway in 29.56 seconds (187.551 mph).
"We were fast out of the box, even in a race setup mostly leftover from Kansas,¿ Hamilton said. ¿It¿s given us a chance to just have a fun, relaxing day and tinker around and just try some things we¿ve been thinking about.¿
Hamilton will be running both the Oct. 25 Aaron¿s 312 Busch race and the Oct. 26 Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500, a natural since Atlanta is one of his favorite tracks.
¿This is a real race track,¿ Hamilton said. ¿You can race here no matter what your car is doing. You can go high and you can go low. There¿s racing grooves from the inside wall to the catchfence.¿

The payout for the 2003 Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 weekend will hit a record high $5,933,116, a 10 percent increase over last year¿s record-setting purse and almost 130 times the purse of the first NASCAR event held at Atlanta Motor Speedway, the 1960 Dixie 300.
Back in that 1960 event, 45 drivers competed for a total of $39,000; this year, the winner alone will receive at least five times that amount.
The Oct. 26 Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 NASCAR passed the $5 million mark for the first time in its 44-year history, jumping to a record $5,051,229 in prize money ¿ up more than half a million dollars from the $4,495,544 awarded just a year ago.
The Oct. 25 Aaron¿s 312 Busch Series race will also offer a record purse, totaling more than $853,087. Last year¿s event guaranteed $775,278, an increase of 10 percent.

Most of the time when teams test at Atlanta Motor Speedway, they are looking for tenths of a second.
When Busch Series regular Scott Wimmer tested a Winston Cup car for Bill Davis Racing on Monday, he was looking for far more than a little bit of speed.
Wimmer was trying to decide if his entry into the Oct. 26 Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 Winston Cup event would be a Dodge or a Chevrolet.
¿We don¿t really have a loyalty to either make, so we can take the liberty of seeing if our Chevy or our Dodge is better at Atlanta and running whichever one is faster,¿ Wimmer said.
But Wimmer wasn¿t the only NASCAR regular on-track Monday. Two Craftsman Truck Series drivers ¿ Rick Crawford and Carl Edwards ¿ also took to the track, testing primarily for the inaugural 200-mile truck series event just added to Atlanta¿s 2003 schedule.
Crawford spent time in both his 2003 No. 14 Circle Bar Motel/RV Park Ford and the new 2004 F150 model. Edwards, a rookie at Roush Racing, tested both his own No. 99 Superchips Ford and the No. 50 Graham For President Ford of his teammate, Jon Wood.
As expected, Wimmer set the fastest laps of the test, piloting the No. 27 Chevrolet around the 1.54-mile track in 30.1 seconds (184.186 mph). Crawford led the trucks with a 31.35-second lap (176.846 mph) in his 2003 Ford; he also wheeled the new 2004 Ford around the track in 31.64 seconds (175.221 mph). Edwards was third fastest on the day with a lap at 176.056 mph.

NASCAR Winston Cup veteran Michael Waltrip led the speed chart Tuesday at Atlanta Motor Speedway as three drivers and teams prepared for the Oct. 24-26 Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 weekend.
Driving the No. 15 NAPA Chevrolet owned by Dale Earnhardt, Inc., Waltrip was caught on the unofficial stopwatches at an average speed of 191.701 mph (28.92 seconds) around the 1.54-mile superspeedway. Waltrip also clocked a competitive lap in his No. 99 Aaron¿s Dream Machine, turning a lap in 30.44 seconds (182.129 mph), since he will be doing double duty at Atlanta, running both the Oct. 25 Aaron¿s 312 Busch race and the Oct. 26 Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500.
"We¿ve been testing both cars, trying to find some speed - and we found it," Waltrip said. "We made a qualifying run in the 15 car, and we were running 207 (mph) into the corner. This track has tons of speed, and come race day, there will be tons of action and lots of passing."
Georgia native Buckshot Jones also turned laps Tuesday, trying to get comfortable in his No. 00 Aaron¿s Dream Machine Chevrolet. Jones, driving a car owned by Waltrip, will attempt to make the Oct. 26 Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 Winston Cup race.

Michael Waltrip won his second race of the season Sunday at Talladega Superspeedway, but the celebration had to wait ¿ he had a helicopter to catch.
Less than 12 hours after leaving Talladega, Waltrip was at Atlanta Motor Speedway, testing his No. 15 NAPA Auto Parts Chevrolet in preparation for the Oct. 26 Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500.
Also testing Monday was Georgia native Buckshot Jones, who will drive the No. 99 Aaron¿s car for Waltrip in the Oct. 26 Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500. Waltrip¿s fastest lap was 29.86 seconds (185.666 mph), which only eclipsed Jones¿ quick lap (185.109 mph) by 0.09 seconds.
Busch Series racer David Green, who is fourth in points, also tested. His fastest lap was 180.293 mph (30.75 seconds).
¿You work so hard to do your best to win each week,¿ Waltrip said. ¿That¿s your goal every time you go to the track. When you win, you did your job and when you don¿t, you know you have to work harder the next time. Especially at a track like Talladega, you¿re really more relieved than excited when you win. You have a little party and then you get back to work.¿

The NASCAR drivers will descend on Atlanta Motor Speedway next week, ready to start testing for the Oct. 24-25 Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500.
NASCAR Winston Cup and Busch driver Michael Waltrip, NASCAR Busch Series driver David Green and Georgia native Buckshot Jones will all be on hand next Monday and Tuesday, testing their cars on the fastest track in NASCAR.
Waltrip¿s test will serve a dual purpose, as he will be competing in both the Oct. 25 Aaron¿s 312 and the Oct. 26 Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500. Waltrip will likely test his fuel strategy next week in his Aaron¿s-sponsored Busch car, hoping to avoid the drama of last year¿s 12 extra miles in the Aaron¿s 312. Waltrip dominated last year¿s race, only to have to pit on lap 189, eventually finishing second to Jamie McMurray.
¿We usually get great gas mileage, but not that day,¿ Waltrip said. ¿That¿s what is so exciting about the drama of 12 extra miles in the Aaron¿s 312. Even though it didn¿t work out for us that day, it was a great show for the fans.¿

In a year when 111 points separate the top five in Busch Series points and little more than 500 points separate the top 10, a fast track known for its lead changes and three-wide action could prove to be a turning point for championship contenders.
And that¿s why current points leader David Green can¿t wait until the Oct. 25 Aaron¿s 312 at Atlanta, a track that he has more experience at than most.
¿I have a feeling the Aaron¿s 312 is going to be a pivotal point in the championship race for us,¿ said Green, who has competed in 8 of 11 Busch races held at Atlanta, finishing as high as second in 1996. ¿I haven¿t had the best of luck at Atlanta in the past, but I do have a lot of experience on this track and I¿m hoping this is the year that will pay off for the Timberwolf team.¿
Green is hoping his experience pushes him out of reach of second-place Brian Vickers, who trails him by only 48 points. While Vickers, 19, may be young and fast, Green is quick to point out that he¿s made almost seven times as many laps at Atlanta as Vickers has. In fact, Green has completed 1,324 laps to Vickers¿ 201.

Busch drivers Scott Wimmer, Coy Gibbs, Hank Parker Jr., Georgia native Joey Clanton and points leader David Green were all at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Monday for media day to promote the Oct. 25 Aaron's 312.
Wimmer, Gibbs and Clanton took the media on ride-alongs in the specially prepared Busch Series 2-seater race car, exposing journalists from the area to a 160-mph ride.
Green is hopeful that when he returns to Atlanta next month, it will be to help clinch his first Busch Series title. But he's got young guns Brian Vickers and Scott Riggs right on his tail, and veterans Ron Hornaday and Jason Keller aren't far behind. Green currently leads by just 48 points, with 111 points separating the top 5 drivers.
Gibbs came to town a day early, catching part of the Washington Redskins-Atlanta Falcons game on Sunday at the Georgia Dome. The son of former Redskins coach and current Falcons minority owner Joe Gibbs, Coy was asked who he was rooting for. He politely evaded the question, claiming to be a fan of both teams. Gibbs is currently leading the chase for the rookie title this year, barely holding off Stockbridge's Joey Clanton.

Sterling Marlin, driver of the No. 40 Coors Light Dodge, has joined the ranks of NASCAR drivers who will appear at Atlanta Motor Speedway¿s Speed Zone before the Oct. 26 Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500.
One of the top drivers in NASCAR, Marlin led the points standings for 25 weeks last season before a neck injury sidelined him, dashing his hopes of picking up his first Winston Cup championship. This year, Marlin has nine top 10 finishes and will try to pick up his first win in Atlanta, where he has finished in the top 10 in three of his last four races.
But before he takes to the track for the Oct. 26 Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500, Marlin will join Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kurt Busch in the lineup of drivers confirmed to appear at the Speed Zone hospitality tent. The names of other drivers to appear at Speed Zone will be announced over the next several weeks. The exact appearance schedule will be released the week prior to the Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500.
Marlin, Earnhardt and Busch will be on hand to answer questions from fans that purchase the Speed Zone package. In addition to the driver appearances, Speed Zone attendees will receive a pre-race pit pass, continental breakfast, lunch buffet, a souvenir racing program and non-alcoholic beverages.
This one-day Speed Zone package is available for $199 and is on sale now. Race fans can purchase the Speed Zone package by calling the speedway at (770) 946-4211

After concentrating on finding some speed Monday afternoon at Atlanta Motor Speedway, NASCAR Busch driver Scott Riggs and his PPC racing team spent Tuesday trying out different race setups on the No. 10 Nesquik Ford.
Riggs, currently third in the NASCAR Busch Series points standings, was a tick slower Tuesday, recording a fast lap of 184.677 mph (30.02 seconds), concluding a two-day test in preparation for the Oct. 25 Aaron¿s 312 Busch Series race.
¿We¿re just trying to see what things will affect the car and to what degree it will affect the car,¿ Riggs said. ¿We¿re learning which adjustments to make when the car does different things on the track. Not real exciting, but it should be very helpful when we return next month.¿

When the NASCAR Busch Series drivers roll into Atlanta on Oct. 25, there will be just four races left in the season. And if things continue, there will be at least five drivers intent on capturing the championship.
One of them was at Atlanta Motor Speedway testing on Monday, as Scott Riggs and his No. 10 NesQuik Racing team were searching for elusive tenths of seconds that would push him ahead of the competition in the Oct. 25 Aaron¿s 312 Busch Series race.
Riggs made strides during Monday¿s test, completing a lap around the high banks of Atlanta¿s 1.54-mile track in 29.57 seconds (187.487 mph).
¿We¿ve been working on the feel of the car,¿ Riggs said. ¿We need to be consistent, and that¿s what we¿re looking for. We¿re doing race runs, qualifying runs, just searching for the fastest way around this place for when we come back in October.¿

Right now, Scott Riggs is atop the NASCAR Busch Series point standings -- but he¿s got four drivers breathing down his neck. With nine races remaining, Riggs is going to have be near-perfect to hold off his competitors.
That¿s why Riggs¿ test Monday and Tuesday at Atlanta Motor Speedway is of such importance. The Oct. 25 Aaron¿s 312 will be one of the final races of the season, and every driver will be scrapping for every available point in the race for the title. Riggs wants to make sure he has a leg up and will spend the first two days of next week prepping for the race.
"If there were only two going after the championship, you might be tempted to pay more attention to what the other guy is doing," Riggs said. "Since we don¿t have that luxury, we¿re more focused on what we need to be doing. It¿s up to us to get the job done and stay on top."

Atlanta Motor Speedway officials announced today that the speedway has added a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race to its 2004 event schedule. The inaugural 200-mile event will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2004, as part of the Golden Corral 500 weekend.
"We thought long and hard about how we could beef up our spring race schedule, and what kind of event the fans really wanted to see," said Atlanta Motor Speedway President and General Manager Ed Clark. "What really convinced me is that the fans have been asking us to run a truck race for years. And after watching them test here many times, and watching a bunch of great truck races, I agree with them that this will be a great, close race with tons of action for the fans."
The NASCAR Craftsman Truck series already races at Atlanta Motor Speedway¿s sister tracks, Texas Motor Speedway and Lowe¿s Motor Speedway, and many truck drivers have expressed interest in racing at Atlanta as they have tested at the high-banked track over the years.
"I love this track," Atlanta-area Craftsman Truck driver Bill Lester said during a recent test session. "It¿s so fast, and it seems so competitive. I hope one day we can race here, because it would be a whole different animal. I would really love to be able to invite all my family and friends to come watch me race at this awesome place."

In the last 40 years, very little about Atlanta Motor Speedway has stayed the same.
The name has changed, the track configuration has changed and the ownership has changed at least four times. One thing that has remained constant is the presence of ticket manager Frances Goss.
But after 38 years, at the close of business on Friday, Aug. 28, 2003, that too changed. Frances Goss is retiring.
"I¿ve spent the last 38 years having fun, and by retiring I get a chance to expand my horizons for having fun," Goss said. "I¿m sad to be leaving everyone here, but the plan now is to have a little more time to enjoy life and my family."
Goss began at Atlanta Motor Speedway in 1965, just five years after the structure was built, when it was a 1.5-mile track known as Atlanta International Raceway. She was a perky young 26-year-old then, starting the second job she¿d ever had, one she found through the unemployment office.
To put it in perspective, when Goss started at Atlanta, Lyndon B. Johnson was president. A new house cost $40,000. A gallon of gas cost 24 cents. A loaf of bread cost 21 cents. A postage stamp was 5 cents.

After signing two major sponsors in the span of one week, it¿s easy to understand why Atlanta Motor Speedway President and General Manager Ed Clark has a huge grin on his face.
Clark announced last week that Bass Pro Shops and MBNA have signed for the track¿s fall race for the next four years, and Golden Corral has signed for the spring race for the next three
¿That was huge for us to find three great partners to work with to further grow what are already the two largest single-day sporting events in Georgia,¿ Clark said.
But more than that, he said all of racing should share his enthusiasm.
¿Even with the current economic climate, racing has definitely held its own,¿ Clark said. ¿Companies are obviously still seeing great returns ¿ in fact, greater than almost any other sport ¿ or else we wouldn¿t be succeeding.¿

NASCAR Craftsman Truck driver Rick Crawford and the folks at Ford Racing planned to use all of Thursday to learn the ins and outs of the new 2004 Ford F-150. Instead, they lost an engine only 2 hours into the test and had to pack up and head home.
¿We didn¿t get nearly as much on-track time as we¿d hoped for on our maiden voyage, but I think we still learned a lot,¿ Crawford said. ¿This truck has a lot of promise and potential. We were creeping up on it; every run was faster and faster. This truck has surely not reached its peak.¿
Still, in the 25 or so laps Crawford was able to run, he managed a top speed of around 170 mph.
¿Today was just about getting ready for 2004, trying to get a leg up,¿ said Robert Brooks, NASCAR truck program manager for Ford Racing. ¿We¿ll give all of the information we gathered today and give it to the whole Ford family for next year. It wasn¿t as much as we¿d hoped for, but it¿s still a great start.¿

Ultra Motorsports racer Ted Musgrave and Bobby Hamilton Racing driver Chad Chaffin took turns making laps at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Wednesday, despite the high temperatures that kept speeds down.
At times the track temperature reached 132 degrees, slowing the trucks by more than a mile an hour.
¿Bobby ran 31.63 seconds (175.277 mph) yesterday, but once the sun came out today we slowed down,¿ Chaffin said. ¿It¿s just too hot to run that fast.¿
Chaffin tested Bobby Hamilton¿s No. 4 machine while his boss watched from the sidelines.
¿Even with the heat, both teams are running around 31.90 seconds (173.793 mph),¿ Hamilton said. ¿We¿ve come a long way working with these set-ups, and we¿ve learned a lot.¿

Bobby Hamilton has raced at Atlanta Motor Speedway plenty of times in the past, and he knows how much fun it can be. But that doesn¿t mean he¿s ready to have a NASCAR Craftsman Truck race there - unlike most of his competitors.
¿I hear all these guys moaning all the time about how they¿d like to race here, and how it¿s so fast and great for racing,¿ Hamilton said. ¿And don¿t get me wrong, it is all those things. But I don¿t want to lose our testing time here. We always like to leave an Atlanta test in our hip pocket for later in the season, when we need some time on a track like the other big ones coming up on our schedule - Texas, Las Vegas, California. I¿m not ready to give that up yet.¿
That¿s why Hamilton and the others were at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Tuesday, taking advantage of a test booked by Dodge Racing for its Craftsman Truck teams. Hamilton, his Atlanta-area driver Bill Lester, his other driver Chad Chaffin and Ultra Motorsports driver Ted Musgrave also tested Tuesday, looking for ways to improve their aero package for upcoming races.
The day¿s top speed went to Hamilton, who sped around the high-banked 1.54-mile oval is 31.63 seconds (175.277 mph).

"We're very excited to be working with Atlanta Motor Speedway. Our team is already at work developing some great advertising for the speedway that will differentiate it from other NASCAR tracks,¿ said Charlie Tombras, CEO for The Tombras Group. ¿They've got a great product to sell especially when you consider they offer some of the fastest racing on the circuit, multiple racing grooves and a history of close finishes. ¿The ability for a complete integration of our advertising and promotional efforts, along with the capability to maximize our sponsor relationships, has us excited about the chance to work with the Tombras Group,¿ said Ed Clark, president and general manager of Atlanta Motor Speedway. ¿The enthusiasm and ideas they bring to the Atlanta Motor Speedway brand is sure to set our already exceptional product apart even more.¿

Just because Atlanta Motor Speedway isn¿t on their 2003 schedule doesn¿t mean teams from NASCAR¿s Craftsman Truck Series aren¿t interested in testing out its 24-degree banking.
That¿s just what they¿ll be doing this Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, as eight NASCAR truck teams visit Atlanta. Bobby Hamilton Racing, Orleans Racing, Ultra Motorsports and Ware Racing Enterprises will all hit the track Tuesday and Wednesday during a Dodge test. The session will be open to the media but closed to the public.
On Thursday, driver Rick Crawford will help Ford Racing test the 2004 model. The session is closed to both the media and the public.
Of the eight Craftsman Truck Series drivers who will be on-track at Atlanta Motor Speedway this week, three are in the top 5 in points, and more than half of the top 15 will be making laps. Drivers expected to attend the Dodge test Tuesday and Wednesday are are Bobby Hamilton, Chad Chaffin, Bill Lester, Brendan Gaughan, Jerry Hill, Jason Leffler and Ted Musgrave.

Next year¿s event, the March 14 Golden Corral 500, will be the first of the new three-year partnership.
¿We are really excited to be associated with NASCAR and the Atlanta Motor Speedway for their spring race in March,¿ said Bob McDevitt, Senior Vice President of Marketing/Franchise Operations for Golden Corral. ¿Both the venue and timing are perfect for Golden Corral. Like NASCAR, Golden Corral grew up in North Carolina and our customers are their fans. This is just a natural fit for us. As the No. 1 buffet restaurant in the country, we are excited to be associated with the No. 1 sport in the country.¿

Success magazine gave Golden Corral a perfect 5-Star rating for franchisee satisfaction, based on an independent survey.
¿We¿re pleased to bring a new sponsor to the sport of NASCAR racing, the fastest-growing sport in America at the fastest track in NASCAR,¿ said Ed Clark, president and general manager of Atlanta Motor Speedway. ¿This new relationship offers a lot of promotional potential, and we¿re eager to work with them to maximize this potential.¿

Ford Racing completed the on-track portion of the submission test for the 2004 Ford Taurus Wednesday at Atlanta Motor Speedway. It took only about 10 minutes for driver Dale Jarrett to post a series of laps at the minimum speeds required by NASCAR for submission. The car will now be taken to the Lockheed wind tunnel in Marietta, Ga., to complete the submission test.
¿It went according to plan,¿ said Greg Specht, operations manager for Ford Racing. ¿DJ said the car felt stable and was able to quickly turn the lap times required.¿
Although NASCAR driver Ricky Rudd was originally expected to test the Ford Racing car, he was unavailable due to prior commitments, and Jarrett stepped in to perform the test for Ford.
"I can see to where the car has potential when you get it in total race trim,¿ Jarrett said. ¿Something that most of the Fords fight is a little more front downforce, and it seems like this car may have that without creating a lot of drag. And I think that¿s something that we were interested in: Could we make something that was good for us still on the straightaways, but get us through the corners a little bit, too?¿
More testing will be on tap for Atlanta Motor Speedway in the coming months, as drivers prepare for the Oct. 24-26 Georgia 500 weekend.

In what was easily the most competitive season in Thursday Thunder¿s six-year history, Atlanta Motor Speedway¿s 10-week summer racing series ran full-throttle to the end last week.
Near-record crowds delighted in the close battles, which came down to the wire, with six of the eight divisions deciding champions on the final night.
Six drivers were first-time champions, while ARCA racer Doug Stevens (McDonough) won the Pro division for a Thursday Thunder record fourth time. In all, 2003 saw 31 different winners, including eight first-time winners.
Off the track, families were treated to a bonanza of games, eating contests, giveaways and goody bags. Along the way, the rest of Atlanta came to know what Thursday Thunder regulars already found: Thursday Thunder is one of the most fun and affordable family activities around.
Atlanta Motor Speedway would like to thank all the fans, competitors, volunteers and sponsors for making 2003 the best Thursday Thunder season yet. Our congratulations go out to the following racers:

At the beginning of the 2003 Thursday Thunder racing season, Trey Maughan of Fayetteville felt like he just couldn¿t catch the breaks he needed to score his breakthrough win.
Things have changed considerably for Maughan since then. After blowing an engine the third week of competition, Maughan borrowed a car and won his first race in the Moore Machinery Movers Young Guns division the next week.
¿I was wondering if I was ever going to win, but once I got that first one, it was a lot easier,¿ Maughan said. ¿I really didn¿t have any clue I could have run this well this year, though. I guess things just went my way for once.¿
Maughan won five Thursday Thunder races in 2003, including both features on the final night of racing. Those wins vaulted Maughan ahead of competitor Ryan Bowman (Lilburn) to earn his first Thursday Thunder championship.

Atlanta Motor Speedway regrets to inform its fans that Ernie Irvan and Kevin Conway have cancelled their appearance at tomorrow¿s Papa John¿s Fan Appreciation Night at Thursday Thunder.
Both 1960 NASCAR champion Rex White and current Busch competitor Ron Young will still be on hand to sign autographs from 6-7 p.m. on the concourse.
And there will still be plenty more for the fans to see and do this week, beginning with the long-awaited return of the Kids Candy and Coin scramble at intermission. Kids age 12 and under will be invited down to track level to scoop as much candy and as many coins as their little hands will carry during this week¿s intermission.
As always during Fan Appreciation Night, the first 500 fans through the gate will receive a free goody bag stocked with exciting things like Papa John¿s coupons and merchandise, as well as racing T-shirts, cars and more.
One lucky fan will also get the chance to win $50 in the Redi.net Dash 4 Cash, while others will go home the lucky winner of tickets to the fall Winston Cup race at Atlanta and Richard Petty Driving Experience Ride-Along coupons.
Fans will get even more racing for their money this week, as Thursday Thunder racers battle for the right to be called champions during this double features season finale. This week, officials are again expecting nearly 100 competitors from across the Southeast ranging from 8 to 68.

Former NASCAR Winston Cup star Ernie Irvan will be at Atlanta Motor Speedway this week for Papa John's Fan Appreciation Night at Thursday Thunder, where he will be signing autographs for the fans and racing against his young protégé in a celebrity Legends race.
Irvan, who won 15 races and 22 pole positions in his 13-year NASCAR career, will return to the track for a 10-lap grudge match against his young Busch protégé, Kevin Conway.
In his first career ARCA race last spring at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Conway started 5th and finished 13th. He also competed in the fall ARCA race at Lowe¿s Motor Speedway, finishing 7th. Since then he has been busy trying to obtain sponsorship to run the limited Busch schedule he and Irvan planned.
Now Conway will be able to test his skills against Irvan on track in this ¿Beat The Boss¿ grudge match.

Casey Roderick knows what he wants for his birthday.
He hopes that by the time he turns 11 on Friday, the day after the conclusion of Atlanta Motor Speedway¿s Thursday Thunder racing series, he can call himself champion.
In just his first season racing with the Bandolero Bandits division, Roderick leads second-place Hunter Robbins by just three points. With two rounds of features to complete Thursday before declaring a champion, Roderick knows he has a lot of racing ahead.
¿Hunter¿s been doing this a long time, and he¿s really good,¿ Roderick said. ¿I¿d be happy just to come in second to him, but I¿d rather take home the trophy.¿

The phrase ¿Are we there yet?¿ took on a new meaning for the Murphy family last week.
Mom and Dad Murphy, along with sons Andrew (14), Austin (11) and Broc (9), left their Lancaster, Calif., home last Sunday, headed for the races. For the next four days, they covered more than 3,000 miles in their extended cab truck, three Bandolero cars packed into the trailer behind them.
¿Hurricane¿ Andrew Murphy was the Bandolero division track Champion at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2002 and ¿Awesome¿ Austin Murphy made his debut in Bandoleros last season after winning more than 20 mini-dwarf races. Broc ¿Bam Bam¿ Murphy made his Bandolero debut earlier this season.
Thursday Thunder at Atlanta Motor Speedway was just one pit stop along the Murphys¿ journey to Bandolero Nationals in Orlando, Fla., to see where they stack up against the nation¿s best Bandolero racers.

As the summer race season winds down, many short tracks have all but declared their champions, with points races too spread to change over the next few weeks. Not at Atlanta Motor Speedway. After eight weeks of competition, four divisions are at their tightest point of the season.
Two divisions - the Pace Car Fuel Centers Outlaws and the Legends Semi-Pro - have a tie at the top, with two drivers sharing the lead going into the last two weeks of competition on the ¼-mile Thunder Ring.
In the Semi-Pro division, Griffin¿s Bubba Harry has won four races this season. He is tied in the division championship race with Jeremy Kalina, another Griffin resident, who has two victories this season. Both Harry and Kalina have already won championships at Atlanta and know how to perform under pressure. Harry was last season¿s Chargers champion, while Kalina picked up last year¿s Young Lions title.
Darrell Banks of Sharpsburg has won five of the eight Outlaws races run at Atlanta Motor Speedway this season, but he remains tied with Griffin¿s Jody Pilkenton for the division¿s top spot. Pilkenton has one win and four second place finishes.
Twenty-six-year-old racer Doug Stevens, an ARCA and ASA racing veteran, leads the Pro division by almost 20 points. But as a three-time Pro champion, Stevens doesn¿t want to take home another. The McDonough native will head to Nashville for the 10th week of competition at Atlanta to take part in the ARCA race, thereby handing the title to one of two young guns currently tied for second. Hampton¿s Chris Dilbeck and Doug Ludwig of Fayetteville will fight it out for the championship in the last two weeks.

After taking the checkered flag, Andrew Brunnert of McDonough climbed from his yellow and blue No. 6 Bandolero and, in a move reminiscent of his favorite driver Mark Martin, pumped his fists in the air. Brunnert won his first race on Atlanta Motor Speedway¿s quarter-mile Thunder Ring Thursday night in a crash-filled Atlanta Dental Team Bandits division feature race.
Brunnert win in just his eighth career Thursday Thunder race. John William Lee of Hampton finished second with Austin Murphy of Lancaster, Calif., in third.
Mark Wallace, co-owner of the No. 77 Jasper Engines and Transmissions Winston Cup car driven by Dave Blaney, visited Papa John¿s Victory Lane for the fourth time this season in the Tanger Outlet Center Masters division race. Randy Thornton of Oxford finished second with Sam McCullough of Snellville finishing third. Atlanta Motor Speedway President and General Manager Ed Clark (Peach Tree City) finished a career-best sixth in the Masters division feature race.

If Hunter Nickell¿s employees could see him on Thursday nights, they would probably never recognize him. Or at least that¿s what his 18-year-old son Pete Nickell thinks.
Hunter Nickell is the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Fox Sports Net, based here in Atlanta. His son is a competitor in the Thursday Thunder summer racing series at Atlanta Motor Speedway. And each Thursday night during the summer, father and son can be found covered in grease, under the car in the hot and steamy garage at AMS.
¿Some of the folks who work with dad have joked about taking a picture of him out here with the grease all over him and taking it up to work,¿ Pete said. ¿I don¿t think they¿d believe it if there wasn¿t proof.¿

Virgil Brown of Concord spends his days in the courtroom, defending cases and winning trials. He spends his evenings working on the two Legends cars he runs each Thursday at Atlanta Motor Speedway. It¿s the time in between when you have to keep your eye on him.
¿In 1963 they caught me crawling over that fence right over there,¿ Brown said, pointing. ¿I wanted to be in here and be a part of things. Carl Tyler of Hollywood, Fla., put me on his team and he and a man named Steve Gregh let me help them out.¿
While the track was built in 1959 and 1960, the fence in question was installed as part of the track reconfiguration in 1997. When confronted with this, Brown laughed and shrugged his shoulders.
¿You have to admit it was a good try,¿ he said. ¿It¿s been a long time, maybe it was that fence over there.¿

A roll of tape costs a race team less than a dollar, but the changes it produces in a Craftsman Truck Series race truck often mean several positions in the finishing order - and several thousand dollars.
Two Ford Racing truck teams took to the 1.54-mile track at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Monday to see just how much difference the tape configuration on the front air dam and grill made to the trucks¿ cooling system and downforce.
¿If you add more tape, your truck gets faster because you loosen it up and give it more downforce,¿ said Rick Crawford, driver of the No. 14 Circle Bar Motel/RV Park Ford. ¿But if there¿s too much tape, then you¿re not giving the engine a chance to cool and it hurts you in the end. We¿re trying to find the balance.¿
Crawford tested 29 different tape set-ups on the grill of his truck Monday, and his team compared those telemetry numbers against the numbers set by Carl Edwards in his No. 99 Roush Racing Ford Monday.

Myron Guyton has visited Victory Lane three times this season at Atlanta Motor Speedway, becoming the first African-American driver to win there. Now he wants other African-American drivers to experience the same thrill of victory.
Guyton, 35, owns several Burger King restaurants in the Atlanta area and hopes to bring young racers into the sport through his stores.
¿I want to have contests and give away a chance to try to drive a Legends car,¿ Guyton said. ¿When we find drivers who want to go further, we¿ll help them out. This isn¿t a cheap sport, so if you take the money aspect away, it¿ll be more enticing. I can¿t wait to get kids working with these cars. When they get excited, I get excited. I want to help them make their dreams come true like I had a chance to.¿

Atlanta Dental Team Bandits driver Casey Roderick (Lawrenceville) also took home both feature wins, cementing his points lead. Hunter Robbins (Montgomery, Ala.) and Brett Reidy of Grayson followed him to the checkered flag in both races.

This week¿s Thursday Thunder racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway will hold a little more importance than usual for the championship chase. Racers will have the opportunity to earn three times as many points than usual due to last week¿s rain out and the scheduled double points event.
In all eight divisions of racing, points races are shaping up and should prove to be quite a showdown for the championship.
The Pro division is the tightest race, with 12 points separating the top four drivers. Fayetteville¿s Doug Ludwig leads the division, with 17-year-old Chris Dilbeck (Hampton) in second, three-time Pro Champion Doug Stevens (McDonough) in third and Morrow¿s Andy James in fourth place.

They all share the same light hair, thin build and even the characteristic freckles ¿ genetic traits that are shared among brothers. But the Allison boys ¿ Austin, Will and Carson ¿ share more than just their looks. They also share a desire to be on the race track any time they can.
The Allisons ¿ part of the Alabama gang as relatives of former Winston Cup drivers Bobby, Donnie, Davey and Clifford Allison ¿ have been fixtures at Thursday Thunder since 2000, when oldest brother Austin, now 13, began racing Bandoleros.
At the time, Will had just finished kindergarten and Carson was still sucking a bottle and falling asleep in his mother¿s arms before the feature races ever began. The scene has changed, however.
Will, now 8, made his Atlanta Motor Speedway debut on July 10, wearing a red firesuit emblazoned with ¿Austin Allison¿ in script across the belt. His car was painted blue to mirror the Bandolero machine of his big brother, and the smile on his face proved he was glad it was finally his turn to hit the track.

With the demand for AMS FOR LESS packages far exceeding the amount of hotel rooms available in Henry County for the Oct. 24-26 Georgia 500, vroomz.com has taken over the AMS FOR LESS package and opened the program up to hotels citywide. Vroomz.com is expected to begin taking orders for the new hotel and race ticket packages by Monday, July 14.
Vroomz.com will take over where the Henry County Convention and Visitors Bureau and Atlanta Motor Speedway left off as demand began outpacing supply.
¿We weren¿t sure what to expect when we first developed this program. What we found is that we couldn¿t keep up with all the calls, selling out of the original spate of rooms set aside in Henry County in less than three weeks,¿ said Ed Clark, President and General Manager of Atlanta Motor Speedway. ¿This program has been so wildly popular that it has far exceeded our expectations. We¿ve brought vroomz.com in to take the ball and run with it, which will allow more fans to take advantage of these low-cost weekend packages for the Georgia 500. We¿ve had people call from as far away as Alaska who are going to attend their first NASCAR race, since we¿ve made it so affordable.¿
Vroomz.com will offer several different options for fans. The first will be the traditional two-night hotel stay and three-day ticket package, with prices starting at under $400 for two people for the entire weekend. Fans may also purchase round-trip shuttle passes for the Oct. 26 Georgia 500.

Despite the torrential rains that came just in time to force the postponement of Thursday night¿s Faster Pastor race at Atlanta Motor Speedway¿s Thursday Thunder, generous race fans brought in enough canned goods to feed the Griffin-area hungry for at least three weeks.
Officials at Five Loaves and Two Fish food pantry in Griffin said the truckload of food was enough to feed about 900 families per week for three weeks.
The best news is that because Thursday¿s race was postponed, fans will be able to bring their canned items to next Thursday¿s event as well.

No matter who crosses the finish line first in the this Thursday¿s Faster Pastor event, a Five Loaves and Two Fishes Food Pantry, which provides meals for low-income families in the Spalding county area, will win the biggest prize.
Four local ministers will duke it out in Legends cars on Atlanta Motor Speedway¿s ¼-mile Thunder Ring, and while the race will determine the faster pastor, a food drive will determine the starting order, as well as help local families in need.
¿I¿m excited about the food drive because when we decided to do the Faster Pastor race, we wanted to make sure it benefited our community, and I think we picked one of the best charities around,¿ said Dan Brown, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Griffin.

Billy Hendrix loves the race track. Loves it so much that, at 49 years old, he just bought his first Legends car. He says he is now fulfilling a dream, racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway in the Thursday Thunder series.
You might wonder how that could be, given that Hendrix lost his father at a race track. Especially given that Hendrix, then 9 years old, was watching the night his father gunned the accelerator down the frontstretch during a warm-up lap and never turned, barreling straight into the wall. Given that the crew guys who had helped extricate his father from the car said it wasn¿t good, that J.C. Hendrix - once an aspiring NASCAR driver - had obviously severe injuries. Given that all of that is a lot for a 9-year-old to comprehend.
Hendrix might wonder that sometimes, too. His mother, Etheleen, certainly does.
¿She liked to have a fit when I told her I was going to race,¿ Hendrix said. ¿It scares the hound out of her. But I¿ve been dreaming of doing this my whole life.¿

Thursday Thunder Masters division racer Dwight Pilgram (Stockbridge) spent his Fourth of July weekend playing in the dirt and came home with a big trophy for his trouble.
Pilgram traveled to Joplin, Mo., to race at Joplin 66 Speedway¿s Joplin Sports Authority MLRA Summer Nationals, where he took the checkered flag on the famed dirt track.
Pilgram won his heat race and finished third in the Master¿s division race last week on Atlanta Motor Speedway¿s Thunder Ring. He is currently fourth in Thursday Thunder Masters points and ranked tenth in the nation among Masters racers.

Four local ministers will trade the pulpit for the cockpit this week during Thursday Thunder at Atlanta Motor Speedway during the first Faster Pastor event at the track.
The four pastors - Randy Valimont of First Assembly of God, Steve Stewart of Oak Hill Baptist Church, Ted Moody of Mt. Gilead Church and Dan Brown of First United Methodist - took their first laps in a Legends series car last week but are already pumped up about this Thursday's showdown.
¿Faster Pastor is going to be good for everyone - it will unite the community, help the kids who race and benefit the hungry,¿ Moody said.
The starting positions will be determined by a canned food drive, with the food collected benefiting the Five Loaves and Two Fishes Food Pantry in Griffin. Each pastor will have a barrel at the gate, and the one with the most food starts on the pole.

In just his fifth Bandolero race, Casey Roderick (Lawrenceville) took the checkered flag in the Atlanta Dental Team Bandits division. Roderick was a former go-karting stand out and moved up to Bandoleros just a month before the start of the 2003 season.
Roderick finished in front of Matthew Godley of Davidson, N.C. and Andrew Brunnert of McDonough.
Sharpsburg¿s Darrell Banks won for the fourth time this season in the Pace Car Fuel Center Outlaws division, extending his points lead to 12 points over second-place finisher Jody Pilkenton of Griffin. Alan Baker finished third.

¿Ravishing¿ Randy Rose is used to being in the ring. But the Thunder Ring is all new to him.
A 14-year veteran of World Championship Wrestling (WCW), Rose was one of the founding members of the Midnight Express, well-known wrestling duo. Now he¿s making a name for himself on the race track, competing each week in the Masters (over 40) division of Thursday Thunder, Atlanta Motor Speedway¿s 10-week racing series.
¿Right now I¿m just learning and watching,¿ Rose said. ¿I¿m just out there trying to stay out of trouble.¿
That¿s a far cry from his wrestling days, when Rose looked for trouble. As part of one of the ¿evil¿ duos, Rose spent much of his time growling and scowling and breaking chairs over competitors¿ heads. He used full-nelsons and half-nelsons and a bunch of other moves that may or may not have been legal.

Eleven-year-old Hunter Robbins of Montgomery, Ala., isn¿t concerned with points - he¿s hardly even noticed he¿s leading the national points standings in the Bandolero Bandits division.
¿It¿s still early in the season to be concentrating on points,¿ Robbins said. ¿I¿m just trying to race as good as I can and win as much as I can right now.¿
Fellow Bandit and 2002 Thursday Thunder Bandits Champion Kyle Mitchell, 12, of Hampton is ranked fifth nationally, 172 points behind Robbins. Mitchell has another take on the points championship.
¿I won the Atlanta Championship last year without ever winning a race,¿ he said. ¿What it takes is consistency, and while it¿s fun to win races, points championships are better.¿

Outlaw racer Sean Cassidy of Martinez takes a deep breath before patiently explaining to an onlooker that his Bandolero machine isn¿t a ¿kiddie car.¿
¿Sometimes people don¿t take the Bandolero cars seriously, but these things are far more than just a go-kart with a body on them,¿ Cassidy said. ¿Bandoleros have a 570cc, 30 horsepower engine. I¿ve had quite an education just learning to run this car well.¿
Even though INEX rules (the sanctioning body for Legends, Bandolero and Roadster racing) dictate that the youngest drivers must start in Bandolero cars, that doesn¿t necessarily mean they¿re easier to drive. In fact, many of Atlanta Motor Speedway¿s Thursday Thunder drivers, like Cassidy, are quick to point out the skill level needed to drive a Bandolero car.

Atlanta Motor Speedway is offering a new program for fans who don¿t want to be saddled with driving to the races. For the first time, Atlanta Motor Speedway has teamed up with the Henry County Convention and Visitors Bureau to offer round-trip shuttle packages for the Oct. 26 Georgia 500 race.
For just $30, fans can ride to and from the Georgia 500 Winston Cup race without worrying about race traffic. These luxury shuttles come equipped with air conditioning, televisions and restrooms.

Twelve-year-old Hunter Robbins of Montgomery, Ala., is four-for-four in the Bandits division this season, six races away from earning his first Thursday Thunder division championship at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Robbins won the 2000 and 2001 Alabama State Bandolero Championships and won five races during Thursday Thunder last season but ended up third in the points standings as consistent Kyle Mitchell took home the season trophy.
Former go-kart standout Casey Roderick of Lawrenceville finished second in the Bandits division, with Mitchell crossing the line in third.

There is no distance too far for Wayne Flick to travel for his children. Every other week, Flick proves it by traveling the 600 miles from Indianapolis to watch son Tyler compete in the Chargers division of Thursday Thunder at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Then again, it doesn¿t take Flick as long as it takes most people to complete 600 miles. Usually about a 9-hour drive (Mapquest estimates the journey at 9 hours, 32 minutes), Flick admitted it usually took him less than 7 ½ hours.
¿I¿m not afraid to speed,¿ Flick said. ¿I guess that¿s why. And I only stop once, to gas up.¿
Flick failed to mention until further interrogation that he was also an Indiana State Policeman.

Every young racing fan dreams of one day being in NASCAR¿s Victory Lane - the champagne spraying, the fists pumping, the excitement of winning a race at one of the top levels.
Thursday Thunder driver Todd ¿Catfish¿ Gulledge has been there.

In three weeks of Thursday Thunder at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Myron Guyton has visited Papa John¿s Victory lane in the Chargers division twice - during week one and week three. He spent week two sitting on the beach in Cancun, Mexico.
¿I really wanted to race last week,¿ Guyton said. ¿But we hadn¿t been on a vacation in years, and my wife told me ¿You can race, but I¿m going to Cancun,¿ and I thought it would probably be best for me to stay married. I went to Cancun, but I wanted to be here racing.¿

Atlanta Motor Speedway officials will donate $1 for every paid adult admission to Thursday¿s activities, and in lieu of an autograph session, this week¿s featured division will go through the grandstands with their helmets.
In addition, Atlanta Motor Speedway president Ed Clark has donated five pairs of weekend ticket packages to the Oct. 24-26 Georgia 500 weekend for the first five fans who present Rhubarb with at least $1000. Last year¿s stop at AMS netted $4,959 for Rhubarb¿s March Across Georgia, one of his top stops of the summer.

¿The Tortoise and the Hare¿ claimed slow and steady wins the race, but 17-year-old Chris Dilbeck of Hampton knows slow and steady won¿t get you anywhere but the back of the pack.
Since his dad bought him a Bandolero car four years ago, Dilbeck has been a contender on tracks all across the southeast, winning the 1999 Bandolero Georgia Dirt Track Championship and 2001 Young Guns Georgia State Championship.

It was exactly four years ago that Hampton¿s Chris Dilbeck made his debut as a rookie in the Bandolero division of Thursday Thunder. Now 17 years old and competing in the top division, Dilbeck dominated the Pro race at Atlanta Motor Speedway Thursday, leading every lap en route to winning his first race of the season.
Bubba Pollard (Senoia) took second place, while T.J. Sneva traveled from his home in Indianapolis and scored a third place finish.

It was a Legends brochure that Atlanta Motor Speedway President Ed Clark sent to Keeton Hanks six years ago that started the whole thing. Hanks, now 14, still has that brochure. It makes the 1,000-mile round trip with him and his family each week as they travel to Atlanta Motor Speedway and other track around the Southeast.
Hanks and his family, natives of Auburn, Ky., travel almost 15 hours a week to race his Legends car and purse the dream that Clark unwittingly instilled in him six years ago.

When Peyton Durflinger climbed from his car after the first practice of Thursday Thunder, everyone in the garage area took notice. Even though he¿d never raced at Atlanta Motor Speedway before last week, 8-year-old Durflinger, had already become a favorite among mothers, girlfriends and little sisters in the garage area.
Durflinger ¿ the smallest driver in the Bandolero Bandits division ¿ is more than half the size of some of his Bandits competitors, all of which are between the ages of 8 and 11.
¿He powers a car that¿s 750 pounds and he¿s ¿ what ¿ 2 pounds?¿ asked Bandolero Young Guns driver Daniel Moore. ¿It¿s really kind of amazing someone that small can drive like he can.¿

Since finding himself unemployed at the end of last season, driver Casey Atwood has been fishing on a Tennessee lake, as well as fishing for a Busch Series ride. He¿s attended several races, and lingered in the Busch Series garage, trying to catch the eye of an owner hungry for a young driver. And he finally caught one.
¿It¿s what I¿ve been looking for ¿ a real good Busch ride,¿ Atwood said. ¿I¿m hoping for a one-year or two-year full-season deal. The best thing for me to do is go back to Busch, win races, maybe win a championship, and then try to go back to Winston Cup in a few years.¿

Bill Lester is the first to admit that last year -- his first in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series -- was not the breakout season he was hoping for, and it certainly wasn¿t enough to qualify him as the next superstar of the sport. He didn¿t rack up one top-10 finish, recording a best finish of 11th. He finished 17th in points, trying for much of the year to simply keep his equipment in one piece.
Lester intended to turn things around this season, and thought he had at Daytona, when he was racing among the frontrunners for much of the race. Then, with just a handful of laps remaining, Lester blew a tire, seemed to save the truck, and was at the last minute broadsided by a competitor. Just his luck. He finished in 18th position.
So now he¿s turning things over to a higher power: Jobu, his new team mascot and co-pilot.

With just two NASCAR Winston Cup race weekends each year, a lot of people wonder what happens the rest of the year. So what does the president of a speedway do all year long, you ask? We¿ve been trying to figure that out for years (just kidding, Mr. Clark!).
In addition to running the speedway on a day-to-day basis, overseeing all aspects of maintenance and development, managing a full-time staff of 55, lobbying for the speedway and always looking for ways to grow and improve, Atlanta Motor Speedway President and General Manager Ed Clark also takes time to give back to the community.
Clark recently visited with several classes of students from nearby Flat Rock Middle School in Atlanta, Ga. After bribing them with miniature race cars, Clark gave them a brief synopsis of what it takes to manage a raceway and answered their questions about racing. Below are several of the letters he received after his presentation. We thought you would enjoy reading how he touched a few of these sixth-graders¿ lives.

Hey race fans! My name is Monkey Wrench, and I'm the most famous (but not the only!) monkey here at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
As the official mascot, I get a lot of cool duties, including shaking hands with the NASCAR drivers as they cross the stage for driver intros, playing with the kids who come to our races, participating in charity events and even attending birthday parties of some of our young fans.
I'm really looking forward to our next big races -- Thursday Thunder, our weekly summer racing series -- which begins on Thursday, June 5. I love Thursday Thunder because I love to make all the children laugh. OK, I love driving my yellow convertible Legends car around too. I hope you can join me this summer!

Up until last season, Tony Stewart didn¿t have a nice thing to stay about Atlanta Motor Speedway. And with good reason. Of the 23 tracks the NASCAR Winston Cup series races it, Atlanta was the one track where Stewart could never crack into the Top 5.
In fact, it took Stewart five races at Atlanta just to crack the Top 10 - more races than it took at any other track on schedule. So when Stewart said he just didn¿t get Atlanta, he wasn¿t kidding.
What changed between then and now is hard to say, but Stewart feels a lot differently about Atlanta these days.

It¿s been a rough start to the 2003 Winston Cup season for Brett Bodine, but he¿s hoping Atlanta Motor Speedway is the track where he can turn his year around.
The driver/owner of the No. 11 Hooters¿ Ford team got the encouragement he was looking for during this week at Atlanta when he was fastest during Tuesday¿s test, posting a lap of 29.56 seconds (187.551 mph).
The team continued testing on Wednesday and continued to gain valuable information for the March 7-9 Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 weekend. Also testing on Wednesday were Jamie McMurray, Robby Gordon, Jeff Fultz and Elliott Sadler, who had the fastest lap of the day at 189.150 mph (29.31 seconds).

Fultz will also attempt to make Saturday¿s ARCA 400, putting even more pressure on this young driver.
Fultz was at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Tuesday with four NASCAR Winston Cup drivers -- Jamie McMurray, Robby Gordon, Elliott Sadler and Brett Bodine -- all testing for the March 9 Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500. Bodine set the fast time during Tuesday¿s test, posting a lap of 29.56 seconds (187.551 mph).

¿I¿m a little sore, especially in my shoulders and my ankle,¿ Newman said, walking gingerly. ¿But luckily, I was able to walk away, and I¿m here today, smiling and driving.¿

Given the conflicting reports this week from NASCAR officials, many loyal Atlanta Motor Speedway fans have called and written, concerned that AMS may be losing one of its race dates. Atlanta Motor Speedway officials would like to reassure fans that nothing could be further than the truth, and that Atlanta will continue to host two NASCAR Winston Cup races in the future.
¿Nothing has changed here; our company has no intention of moving any events to or from Atlanta or any other track,¿ said Atlanta Motor Speedway President and General Manager Ed Clark. ¿There will be two NASCAR Winston Cup events at our track this year, in March and October, and we anticipate having two races here for a long time.¿
