Legends Racing

The door-to-door excitement of short track racing greets fans year-round with Legends, Bandolero and Buzz Car racing on the 1/4-Mile "Thunder Ring," located on the frontstretch of Atlanta Motor Speedway! Grassroots racing in various divisions occurs year-round with offseason events and the Winter Flurry season in addition to the Thursday Thunder series during the summer months! 

Thursday Thunder

Atlanta's summers will heat up when Thursday Thunder, Atlanta Motor Speedway's weekly racing series takes the green flag for the 2012 season.

Thursday Thunder, an eight-week series of nine races that hosts Bandolero, Legends and Buzz Car racing is one of the most affordable, exciting family activities in Atlanta. Every Thursday night from June 7 to July 26 a smorgasbord of games, contests, giveaways and hot on-track racing excitement.

Tickets are just $6 for adults and $2 for children 6-11 (children under 6 are free) for each evening of fun and grass-roots racing on the paved quarter-mile track at AMS, the Thunder Ring. Drivers as young as 8-years-old come from all over the nation to battle each night in eight different classes for the right to be called champions at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

But the racing is only part of the fun and excitement at Atlanta Motor Speedway. On the concourse, there will be weekly themes and contests, exciting intermission activities merchandise and ticket giveaways. Group parties and children's birthday parties are also available during Thursday Thunder. Gates open at 6 p.m., heat races start at 5:50 p.m. and feature races start at 7:30 p.m. Don't miss this summer's most fun and affordable activity. You can enjoy the excitement of sanctioned auto racing from behind the wheel! Thanks to 600 Racing and Legends of Georgia, it's easy, affordable and a great source of family fun. Legends Cars are 5/8 scale replicas of classic coupes and sedans of the '30s that were modified into the fordable racing machines of NASCAR's grassroots history. But don't let their size fool you - these are serious race cars powered by 1200cc, 4-cylinder Yamaha engines delivering 122 horsepower - more than enough to give you some major league racing thrills.

Winter Flurry

Even during the Thursday Thunder offseason, the Legends, Bandolero and Buzz Car drivers come to Atlanta Motor Speedway to compete in Winter Flurry, Atlanta Motor Speedway’s off-season Legends racing series.

While the general grandstands are closed for Winter Flurry events, racing fans can still attend the event with an infield pass. Fans can purchase infield passes at the Security Command building located near the main entrance to Atlanta Motor Speedway. Infield passes are $12 for adults, $5 for ages six through 11, and children ages five and younger are admitted for free.

Buzz Cars

This is your chance to get behind the wheel and race!! Have you ever dreamed of racing a car for fun? Or perhaps you'd like to race, but don't have a large budget. If so, the Buzz Cars, the newest form of racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway quarter-mile "Thunder Ring" may be just right for you! Buzz Cars offer drivers a chance to race at a low cost!
