This past summer on the quarter-mile "Thunder Ring" at Atlanta Motor Speedway, the Masters Division put on one of the best shows of any Thursday Thunder division as four drivers had a chance to win the division title heading into the final night. That same group of drivers appear poised to thrill fans again at the Legends Nationals.

Heading into Friday's pair of heat races, drivers having raced at Thursday Thunder are leading the way. Past Thursday Thunder Masters champions Terry Mathis and Skip Nichols start first and third with Masters fan favorite Tina Johnson having qualified fourth. Ed Clark is in the seventh qualifying spot with this year's Thursday Thunder Masters champion Brian Weimer qualifying eighth.

To win the Legends National title however, the Georgia-based contingent will face some stiff challenges in a field of 29 Masters drivers. That includes  the defending National Champion, Calgary, Alberta Canada's Ira Laughy, who qualified fifth. Jack Dossey of Indianapolis, Ind. enters Friday having qualified second. He ran a handful of offseason races at Atlanta prior to the Legends Nationals, a time investment which is appearing to pay off.

Drivers will earn points from Thursday's qualifying and Friday's heat races to determine starting positions for Saturday's feature races.

Grandstand tickets for the Legends Nationals are $10 on Saturday and $5 on Friday, but fans are admitted for free Friday with the purchase of a Saturday ticket.
