Heavy rains across middle Georgia washed out racing Thursday at Atlanta Motor Speedway, postponing the races until next Thursday, Aug. 7 - the final week of the summer¿s Thursday Thunder series. The gates will open next week at 5:30 p.m. for a full slate of double features during Fan Appreciation Night presented by Fox Sports South and Fox 5 Atlanta. The postponed races will begin when the gates open at 5:30 p.m. Next week¿s regularly scheduled races will be run immediately following the first set of features, around 8 p.m. Fans who attended the July 31 event who bring their ticket stubs with them to next Thursday¿s event will be admitted free. Don¿t miss next week¿s Fan Appreciation Night presented by Fox Sports South and Atlanta¿s Fox 5. The first 500 fans through the gates will receive goody bags full of fabulous prizes and discounts, and we¿ll be cleaning out the prize closet the rest of the night in the grandstand. Plus, former NASCAR Winston Cup star Ernie Irvan will battle his young protégé, Kevin Conway, in a Legends car celebrity match at intermission. Both will be signing autographs on concourse at the beginning of the evening as well. Thursday Thunder is a fun and affordable activity for the whole family. Admission for adults is just $5, children 6-11 are $1, and children 5 and under are free. For more information call (770) 946-4211, or purchase tickets Thursday evening at Gate 13.
