Fans who arrive early for the Oct. 26 Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway will be treated to a spectacular show in the sky above the speedway. The U.S. Air Force Pre-Race Extravaganza will begin at 11 a.m. on Oct. 26 and continue until the on-track activities begin at 12:30 p.m. Flyovers will include National Guard Blackhawk helicopters, Air Force A-10s and an F-117 Stealth Fighter. The Air Force Jump Team will take part in a special jump over the raceway, and the Air Force Ceremonial Band and the Dixieland Band will both be performing. Along with the planes, helicopters, musicians and paratroopers, the Air Force will also bring special VIP Brigadier General Edward A. Rice, Jr. Rice is the Commander of the Air Force Recruiting Service located at the Randolph Air Force Base in Texas. TRACKSIDE FILMING LIVE: Race fans are invited to attend the filming of SPEED Channel¿s Trackside @ Atlanta on Friday, Oct. 24 at 8:30 p.m. It will be held in the Atlanta Motor Speedway exhibitor lot, located in the Earnhardt parking lot on the front side of the speedway. The popular show, hosted by Mike Joy, Michael Waltrip, Larry McReynolds and Jeff Hammond, airs live on SPEED Channel. Special guests from the world of NASCAR will drop by to discuss the week in racing, including the upcoming Oct. 25 Aaron¿s 312 Busch Series race and the Oct. 26 Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 race at Atlanta Motor Speedway. RACER TEACHES STUDENTS TO DRIVE: He drives fast for a living, but Winston Cup series racer Kenny Wallace, driver of the No. 23 Dodge, is working to make sure speeding only takes place on the race track. Wallace will visit Atlanta¿s Pace Academy on Oct. 23 to speak to students about responsible driving. The visit is a part of ¿Race to Bee Safe,¿ a program sponsored by the energy drink YJ Stinger. Wallace will teach the students about routine car maintenance, safe driving and being a responsible driver. The students will also have the opportunity to win prizes and tickets to the Oct. 25 Aaron¿s 312 Busch Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The Race to Bee Safe program also launches a contest in which students can design the trunk art for Wallace¿s car. The winning design will appear on Wallace¿s car in a 2004 Nextel Cup race at the winner¿s home track. The winner will also receive four VIP tickets to the race and die-cast replicas of their winning design. ST. JUDE PAINT SCHEME FOR MARLIN: Sterling Marlin¿s No. 40 Coors Light Dodge will carry a pumpkin-themed paint scheme in the Oct. 26 Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500. The car was designed to promote the St. Jude Halloween Pin-Up Program, a program that allows Coors Light distributors and retail accounts to purchase paper pumpkin cut outs, with the proceeds directly benefiting St. Jude Research Hospital. Coors Light has been involved in the program since 1994 and has raised more than $17 million. Marlin¿s team owner, Chip Ganassi, has been involved with the hospital through his Target Racing teams since 1997. Target Racing donates money to St. Jude each time one of its drivers wins a pole, leads a lap or wins a race. St. Jude Children¿s Research Hospital is known as one of the world¿s premier centers for research and treatment of cancer and other life-threatening diseases that affect children. DRIVER APPEARANCES: Dale Earnhardt Jr., driver of the No. 8 Budweiser Chevrolet, will be signing autographs on behalf of his associate sponsor, Drakkar Noir, at the Lenox Square Mall location of Rich¿s-Macy¿s On Oct. 23. The appearance is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. The first 350 customers to purchase a 6.7oz. Drakkar Noir spray at Rich¿s-Macy¿s will have their bottle signed by Earnhardt during his personal appearance. Jeremy Mayfield, driver of the No. 19 Dodge Dealers Dodge, will be signing autographs at Bartow Pawn & Jewelry in Cartersville, Ga., on Oct. 23 from 5 to 7 p.m. Bartow Pawn & Jewelry is located at 920 Joe Frank Harris Parkway, Cartersville, Ga.
