AMS Already Preparing For Fall Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 Weekend

The stars of NASCAR will return to Atlanta for one of the final races in the Chase for the NEXTEL Cup Championship, the Oct. 29-31 Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500. The racing will be red-hot, as every point could mean the difference between the championship and second place.
The Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 weekend will start off with the fastest qualifying session in NASCAR as it moves under the lights for Georgia-Pacific Qualifying Night on Friday, Oct. 29. Following qualifying will be the return of the American Speed Association (ASA), featuring some of the young drivers in the country, in a 150-mile shootout.
On Saturday, Oct. 30, the Busch Series drivers will return for the Aaron¿s 312, a race featuring the drama of 12 extra miles. With the season winding down, the Aaron¿s 312 is also a key event in the heart of the Busch Series championship battle. Immediately after the Aaron¿s 312 will be the exciting season finale of the International Race of Champions (IROC), a race made up of the best 12 racers in the country from all disciplines of racing. They will all come together to battle for the championship and the $1 million purse to the winner.
The weekend will culminate on Sunday, Oct. 31, with the running of the Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500, when the NEXTEL Cup drivers will be scrapping for every position on track, and every point in the race for the championship.
