Known best for his heartfelt and energetic performance of ¿She Bangs¿ on this year¿s American Idol competition, William Hung will make a special appearance July 15 at Atlanta Motor Speedway¿s Thursday Thunder. Hung will sign autographs for 30 minutes after the gates open at 6 p.m. and sing several songs throughout the night of racing. Hung, a civil engineering student at UC Berkeley, became an American icon after his January performance on American Idol. Judge Simon Cowell blasted Hung for his off-key singing and jerky dance moves, but fans loved the quirky and sincere singer. Since his appearance, Hung has become an inspiration to many, even recently releasing an album called ¿Inspiration¿ that includes encouraging messages to his fans. That album debuted at No. 34 on Billboard¿s Top 200 by selling 38,000 copies for the week. There are already several websites dedicated to the singer, including williamhung.net, which received 4 million hits the first week. Now Hung will be bringing his enthusiasm and inspirational messages to Atlanta Motor Speedway. Hung will entertain the crowd with his music and dancing, as he joins us for the seventh week of Thursday Thunder. As always, fans can win exciting prizes each week at Thursday Thunder, including tickets to October¿s Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 weekend, Richard Petty Driving Experience ride-alongs, a $50 voucher from Washington Mutual, a shopping spree from Tanger Outlet Centers and racing merchandise. Thursday Thunder is a fun and affordable activity for the whole family. Admission for adults is just $5, children 6-11 are $1, and children 5 and under are free. Gates open at 6 p.m., and the racing action will start immediately. For more information call (770) 946-4211 or visit www.atlantamotorspeedway.com.
