Plenty For Families at Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 on Halloween Weekend
Wednesday, October 13, 2004
By now, most people know that Atlanta Motor Speedway is the fastest track on the NASCAR circuit. They know that close finishes are a trademark of racing at AMS.
But do they know that AMS is one of the most family-friendly speedways in the nation?
Especially the upcoming Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 weekend, which happens to fall on Halloween, there will be plenty of activities for children and their families.
First, Atlanta Motor Speedway will be sponsoring an on-site trick-or-treat location for children 12 and under. Thanks to donations from Hershey¿s and M&M¿s ¿ both NASCAR sponsors ¿ and volunteers from Raceway Ministries, children will be able to visit a special trick-or-treat tent on-site to collect their Halloween candy.
The trick-or-treat tent will be open from 5-6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, after the excitement of the Aaron¿s 312 and the Crown Royal IROC season finale. The Raceway Ministries tent is located behind the Champions Grandstand, near the new camper bathroom/shower facility and Mid-State RV Family Campground.
Following trick-or-treating, everyone is invited to stay in the Raceway Ministries tent for a gospel music concert, or attend two other on-site family activities. Beginning at 7 p.m. in the parking area across from the Champions Grandstand (near Gate 12), country rock recording artist Mitch Glenn will perform in a free 90-minute concert sponsored by Shedd¿s Spread Country Crock.
At 7 p.m., NEXTEL will be sponsoring a special free screening of the movie ¿Pirates of the Caribbean¿ in the asphalt parking lot behind turn one on the large-screen NEXTEL Vision.
As if that wasn¿t enough, families will be able to take advantage of several ticket and camping opportunities during the Oct. 29-31 Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 weekend.
As always, tickets for the Oct. 29 Georgia-Pacific Qualifying Night and ASA 150 start at just $15 (if purchased before Oct. 18), and children 12 and under are free. Tickets for the Oct. 30 Aaron¿s 312 and Crown Royal IROC season finale are $30 in the special family-friendly no-alcohol section, but they¿re buy-one-get-one-free, and kids 12 and under are still free.
In addition, Atlanta Motor Speedway has created the new Mid-State RV family campground for families and those who would like a quiet, secure camping area for race weekend. Tent and popup spaces are $100, while RV spaces are $125.
Campers in the family-designated area will have a fenced-in area and round-the-clock security. The new Mid-State RV Family Campground will also have strictly enforced quiet time from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.
Atlanta Motor Speedway will be the perfect place to spend Halloween weekend with the family. For more information or to purchase tickets, call the Atlanta Motor Speedway ticket office at (770) 946-4211, or visit any Ticketmaster location.
