Bill Elliott continued testing his No. 98 McDonald¿s Dodge on Wednesday for the Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, the seventh of eight races Elliott will race in this season. Elliott turned laps Wednesday on par with those from the day before, his fastest lap around the 1.54-mile quad-oval timed by the unofficial stopwatches at 29.93 seconds (185.232 mph). Elliott is enjoying his reduced 2004 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup schedule, since it has given him time to enjoy ¿the important things in life.¿ ¿The past few days I¿ve been able to ride my dirt bike everyday,¿ Elliott said, ¿I¿ve been able to fish more, spend more time with my son Chase, and just be able to be at home.¿ With such a limited schedule, Elliott does not feel disadvantaged, even though he doesn¿t have nearly as much track time as the drivers he¿ll be competing against during the Oct. 29-31 Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 weekend. ¿Not having that experience of the previous race, I might question what I do sometimes,¿ Elliott said, ¿But then I have Jeremy and Kasey to tell me what I should be looking for, and I can also look back into my 30 years of racing experience.¿ Atlanta Motor Speedway testing will continue throughout the next week as drivers prepare for the upcoming Oct. 29-31 race weekend. Mark Martin (No. 6 NEXTEL Cup), Carl Edwards (No. 99 NEXTEL Cup), Matt Kenseth (No. 17 NEXTEL Cup), Reed Sorenson (No. 41 Busch), and Boston Reid (No. 87 Busch) are scheduled to test next week. All tests sessions are closed to the public, but make sure to check the AMS website at www.atlantamotorspeedway.com for daily updates.
