The fastest track on the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup circuit has been dominated by Chevrolet drivers for the past three races, so the pressure will be on 2003 Golden Corral 500 winner Dale Earnhardt Jr. to continue the manufacturer streak and defend his title during this intense weekend. Earnhardt Jr. will be putting his skills to the test as he races against 42 other drivers, all pushing their cars to speeds of almost 200 mph around the track¿s 24 degree banking.
For the first time ever in spring, fans can witness a spine-tingling Georgia Power night qualifying session, as drivers strive to break the 7-year-old track record of 197.478 mph, set by Geoffrey Bodine. Then, fans can sit back and watch as the drivers of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck series battle bumper-to-bumper under track lights. Saturday will showcase NASCAR Busch series up and coming drivers along with seasoned veterans, as they compete in the Aaron¿s 312. Finally, the weekend will culminate on Sunday when the top NEXTEL cup drivers try to master Atlanta¿s 1.54 quad-oval track during Georgia¿s second largest sporting event of the year, the Golden Corral 500.
