Busch Series driver David Stremme has a new crew, manufacturer, and chassis this season. Needless to say, he¿s happy to have all the extra track time he can muster, including Tuesday¿s one-day test at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Stremme and the No. 14 FitzBradshaw team spent Tuesday preparing for the March 19 Aaron¿s 312. It will be his third race at the fastest track in NASCAR, where he has finished in the top 15 in both previous outings.

¿I love racing here,¿ Stremme said. ¿There is no comparison when it comes to Atlanta. There¿s going to be really great racing here, as there always is.¿

Atlanta is becoming more and more popular among drivers as a breath of fresh air after the restrictor-plate and flat-track racing during the first three events of the season.

¿It¿s one of my favorite tracks because it is so fast here that you have to be careful with the body of the car, and as far as mechanics go, you have to be on top of your game,¿ Stremme said. ¿It¿s so fun here because you can move up and down, all over the racetrack. I really wish we had two races here.¿

As the day progressed, Stremme¿s lap times made it evident why he enjoys Atlanta, turning in a qualifying-speed lap at 185.109 mph (29.95 seconds).

¿We¿re doing pretty good today,¿ Stremme said. ¿I like the new (Dodge) Charger body a lot better because we¿re running so well with it. Overall it¿s a better car with the nose and tail being different, and I think we¿ll do well with the car as the season progresses and we have more race time with it.¿

Testing will continue at Atlanta Motor Speedway throughout the upcoming weeks as drivers prepare for the March 18-20 Golden Corral 500 weekend. All tests sessions are closed to the public, but visit www.atlantamotorspeedway.com for daily updates.
