With his trademark backflip and childlike exuberance, Carl Edwards celebrated his win Saturday in the Aaron¿s 312 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, his first in the NASCAR Busch Series.

Edwards held off a closing Tony Stewart in the final laps to cement that first win in what was also his first Busch start at the fast track.

¿This is unbelievable,¿ Edwards said. ¿This is the biggest win of my career. To race with guys like Tony Stewart and Jimmie Johnson ¿ they¿re unbelievable.¿

Edwards is a full-time NEXTEL Cup driver this year, but that hasn¿t diminished his enthusiasm for racing with ¿ and regularly outracing ¿ the same drivers he still idolizes. He will compete again on Sunday in the No. 99 Scott¿s Ford for Roush Racing, starting fourth.

¿Tony just started closing in the last couple laps,¿ Edwards said. ¿Dang man, this is cool.¿

Stewart said he would have needed a handful more laps to catch Edwards.

¿We knew he was good on the front of the run, and we were better towards the end,¿ Stewart said. ¿But Carl did what he had to; he made during those last three laps that he didn¿t make any mistakes.¿
