The stars of NASCAR will return to Atlanta for one of the final races in the Chase for the NEXTEL Cup Championship, the Oct. 28-30 Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 weekend. The racing will be red-hot, as every point could mean the difference between the championship and second place.

The Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 weekend will start off with the fastest qualifying session in NASCAR at Georgia-Pacific Qualifying Night on Friday, Oct. 28.

On Saturday, Oct. 29, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series drivers will return for the EasyCare Vehicle Service Contracts 200, the second truck race of the season at Atlanta. In typical Atlanta fashion, the spring truck race was decided by a photo as Ron Hornaday edged NEXTEL Cup star Bobby Labonte for the win. This fall¿s race is sure to be just as spectacular.

Immediately after the EasyCare Vehicle Service Contracts 200 will be the exciting season finale of the International Race of Champions (IROC), a race made up of the best 12 racers in the country from all disciplines of racing. They will all come together to battle for the championship and the $1 million purse to the winner.

The weekend will culminate on Sunday, Oct. 30, with the running of the Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500, when the NEXTEL Cup drivers will be scrapping for every position on track, and every point in the race for the championship. Could another photo finish be in the offing for this race too?

Single-day Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 tickets start at just $40, and three-day weekend packages are available starting at $69. For more information, call the Atlanta Motor Speedway ticket office at (770) 946-4211.
