Rhubarb's March Highlights Week Two Activities
Tuesday, June 14, 2005
HAMPTON, GA (June 14, 2005) - Last week's Thursday Thunder season opener brought a record opening night crowd and the largest car count of competitors to date to Atlanta Motor Speedway. Week two brings a bevy of activities for Papa John's Pizza Night presented by Rhubarb's Walk Across Georgia with Eagle 106.7 FM.
RHUBARB'S MARCH ACROSS GEORGIA:
This week, Thursday Thunder partners with Rhubarb Jones with Eagle 106.7 FM for Rhubarb's March Across Georgia. Each year, Rhubarb conducts a month long march to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma. The visit at AMS will be his 13th stop on his 24-visit trek he will make this month. Before feature racing begins, the Bandolero Bandits drivers will walk through the grandstands to collect money for charity. Any person who donates over $500 will receive 10 free pizza coupons courtesy of Papa John's Pizza.
Todd Veal, morning-show producer for Rhubarb and Dallas McCade on Eagle 106.7 FM, gets to fulfill his dream of becoming a race car driver this weekend. Veal will compete in the Legends Chargers division this week in a car he rented through Atlanta Motor Speedway's Legends office. Although Veal is a novice racer and has never competed in a Legends car, he is extra motivated to win. Dallas McCade has promised Veal that if he wins, she will buy him a car so he can become a regular competitor in Atlanta Motor Speedway's Thursday Thunder.
Kids! Wear your favorite driver apparel this week to Thursday Thunder to win a prize!
FATHER - CHILD OBSTACLE COURSE INTERMISSION:
Four father-child teams will compete in an obstacle course during the intermission act. The obstacle course will consist of three to four obstacles: race tires, fencing, cones, ending with a Papa John's pizza-eating contest.
Tickets for Thursday Thunder are available at Gate 13 (frontstretch Champions Grandstand) on event nights. Parking is free. Spectator gates open at 6 p.m. with preliminary action beginning immediately. Feature racing begins at 7 p.m. and concludes by 10:30 p.m.
