THURSDAY THUNDER WEEK 3: RESULTS Hampton, GA (June 23, 2005) It was a night of sheer dominance in almost every feature during week three of Atlanta Motor Speedway's Thursday Thunder. The Roadsters division was the first group to take to the track for the night. The only female in the race, Paige Monette (Alpharetta), started on the pole. Dale Ackridge (Lilburn) took the early lead in the race and jumped ahead of the field. Jim Gresham (Stockbridge) closed in on Ackridge at the end of the race and it came down to a photo finish with Ackridge taking the checkered flag for his second career win. Josh Williams (Port Charlotte, Fla.) started the Atlanta Dental Team Bandits feature on the pole. On the first lap in turn three, week one winner Darrell Wallace, Jr. (Concord, N.C.) took the lead. Austin Hill (Winston) worked his way through the field and moved up to the second position by lap 13, however Hill was unable to make the pass and Wallace scored his second win of the season. For the Semi-Pro feature, Brennan Poole (Woodlands, TX) started on the point. On lap two, week one winner Kyle Fowler (Smyrna) took over the lead. Points leader Casey Roderick (Lawrenceville) worked his way up to the second position, but Fowler had such a large lead, Roderick was unable to catch him, allowing Fowler to score his second win of the season. T.J. Shelnutt (Loganville) led the field to the green flag for the Young Guns feature. On lap one, Kyle Lowery (Covington) assumed the lead. Points leader Ryan Gandee (McDonough) stormed through the field to the second position, relentlessly on Lowery's tail. There was a late race caution and on the restart on lap 18, Gandee stole the lead and the eventual win. Up next was the Tanger Outlet Center Masters feature with Mark Wallace on the point. Brian Weimer (Cumming) dogged Wallace each and every lap for the top spot, but Wallace stood firm and captured his first win of the season. The Outlaws feature was one of the best races of the night. Jody Pilkenton (Griffin) paced the field to the green flag and within five laps, Trey Maughan assumed the top spot. However, Daniel Moore (Griffin) worked his way through the traffic and was set on reaching Maughan. On lap 17, it became a three-lap drag race to the finish with Moore taking the checkered flag for the second time this season. Rhino Video Games Chargers put on a show for the fans. R.S. Senter (Oakwood) started the feature on the pole and one lap later, Eric Cushman (Stockbridge) took over the lead and broke away from the field. After a caution period, the race restarted with eight laps to go, bunching the field up. On the restart, the top two cars made contact causing a six-car crash in turn two. After the track cleanup, J.R. Allen (Duluth) led the field to the restart and held on to capture his very first Thursday Thunder win. Week two winner Casey Tate (Locust Grove) brought the field to the green flag for the Pro feature. He held onto the lead until lap 10, when Bubba Harry (Griffin) took over the lead. Harry only held the lead for one lap until Chris Cable (Griffin) took it from him. Cable held on to score is first Pro trophy.
