ATLANTA MOTOR SPEEDWAY THURSDAY THUNDER CANCELLATION UPDATE Atlanta Motor Speedway track officials announced this afternoon they will run the final three races of the Thursday Thunder season on July 28, August 4 and August 11 for competitors only. "Last night, we hosted a INEX practice session for our Legends, Bandolero and Thunder Roadster cars where we determined we are capable of hosting this event," said director of events, Brandon Hutchison. "We have all the necessities needed to run the race from a competition standpoint: radio transmission, an operational garage area and our track surface is in perfect condition as it never received any damage from the storm. "In order to complete the races before dark, we will start the event at 5:30 p.m.," said Hutchison. "Under normal racing conditions, the competitors receive practice laps, an eight-lap heat race and a 20-lap feature, but due to the time constraints, we will run a 25-lap feature race per class only." Competitors can receive additional practice time the Wednesday evening prior to the race on Thursday. "We will be unable to accommodate fans due to all our reconstruction efforts," said Hutchison. "However, for our competitors, we want to get back to racing as soon as possible." Updates and results on the remaining three Thursday Thunder races can be viewed following each event at
