Friday, September 2, 2005
Atlanta Motor Speedway opens its doors to thousands of automotive enthusiasts for the NOPI Nationals Motorsports Supershow on September 17 - 18, 2005. This will mark the first major spectator event the facility has hosted since an F-2 tornado passed through the property on July 6.
"NOPI has been a great partner with Atlanta Motor Speedway and we are proud to be the host site for the NOPI Nationals for the past eight years," said Ed Clark, president and general of Atlanta Motor Speedway. "It is a testament to the hundreds of individuals on the rebuilding team to see all that has been accomplished in such a short time. That is our commitment to our fans, to ensure they have an incredible experience every time they visit our venue.
"After the NOPI Nationals, we will have just over one month to put the finishing touches on the facility in preparation for the October 28-30 Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 race weekend."
The 2005 NOPI Nationals Motorsports Supershow will include: car shows featuring seven divisions with more than 300 classes and more than 6,000 cars; a performance from hip-hop artist Kudzu; Tour 2005, a caravan of import / compact cars; USAC Sound Quality contest; IASCA audio competition; Db Drags competition; Battle of the Bands; Hydraulic Jump-Offs; Scorched Earth Burnout Contest and a High Horsepower Dyno Contest.
