But there will be much more than just the opportunity to drive your car around the track on Sept. on Sept. 24. The Open House will run from 3-7 p.m. and will feature ticket and autographed merchandise giveaways, infield and garage access and plenty of show cars to see.
Also, the Pacemaker 5000, a 5K footrace presented by Henry Medical Center will include two laps around the speedway and will start at 5 p.m. Runners will be able to register at www.pacemaker5k.org for $15 prior to September 20. On-site registration will be available for $20. All runners will receive a complimentary race T-shirt.
Track rides will begin at 6 p.m., with each car getting the opportunity to make two laps behind the official Atlanta Motor Speedway pace car. Fans interested in driving the track should purchase their Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 weekend tickets at the open house to receive their laps free. For those who have already purchased tickets for all three days of the Oct. 28-30 race weekend, a $30 donation to the Speedway Children's Charities will get a two-lap drive around the track.
Fans also gain unprecedented access to the garage and infield areas of Atlanta Motor Speedway during the open house, giving them a chance to see the areas where their favorite drivers will set up to run the Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500. The garage area will be lined with showcars, games, food and other activities for fans to enjoy.
As well as pit passes and NASCAR merchandise, hundreds of souvenirs will be sold at the lowest prices of the year, and fans can even take photographs in Victory Lane with the pace car.
Several future NASCAR from the Thursday Thunder summer racing series will be on hand to sign autographs, and Legends car ride-and-drives will be available.
