Atlanta Motor Speedway officials announced their 2006 event schedule which includes two NASCAR race weekends on March 17-19 and October 27-29.

The March race weekend starts off the 2006 season with three days packed full of events. Friday night opens the weekend with Georgia Power qualifying night for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup series followed by a 200-mile NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race. Saturday features the Nicorette 300 NASCAR Busch Series race. On Sunday, the Golden Corral 500 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series event culminates race weekend.

Atlanta Motor Speedway's Thursday Thunder returns for its ninth summer season of racing. The ten-week season starts on June 1 and runs through August 3, every Thursday night.

On September 16 and 17, the NOPI Nationals Motorsports Supershow returns for its ninth consecutive visit to Atlanta Motor Speedway. The event is the country's largest sports compact show.

For the fall Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 weekend, fans will get another weekend chocked full of action. Friday night will feature Georgia-Pacific qualifying night, Saturday brings the double header EasyCare Vehicle Service Contracts 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race and the Crown Royal International Race of Champions (IROC) race, and Sunday caps the weekend with the Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series event.
