The fifth race of Atlanta Motor Speedway's Winter Flurry season had the competitors returning to the quarter-mile oval. The feature races consisted of 20 laps for all classes today. The first feature of the day to take to the track was the Pro division with Jeff Haynie (Zebulon) on the pole. On lap three, Kyle Fowler (Smyrna) took over the top spot and held on to claim his second Winter Flurry win. Brian Weimer (Cumming) started on the pole for the Masters feature and jumped out to a large early lead. No one could challenge Weimer; he won his fourth Winter Flurry event. R.S. Senter (Oakwood) took the green flag for the Chargers feature. On lap 10, Chase Moody (Watkinsville) stole the top spot. On lap 14, the cars running in second and third place (R. S. Senter and Johnny Rucker respectively) made contact at the start/finish line taking Senter out of the race. Justin Ashley (Honea Path, S.C.) became the race leader on lap 16, but one lap later Moody took back the lead and logged the eventual win. The Semi-Pro feature had Cody Haskins (Marietta) bringing the field to the green flag, but none of the competitors could touch Haskins, as he won his first Winter Flurry feature. Beau Slocumb (Juliette), substitute driving for Jim Gresham (Stockbridge), started on the pole for the feature. Gresham would surely be pleased with his choice of substitute driver, as Slocumb led every lap scoring the win. Jordan Coker (Marietta) was the pole sitter for the combined Bandolero Young Guns/Outlaws feature. On lap four, Justin Swilling (Cohutta) passed for the top spot. When the checkered flag was waved, Swilling had a massive lead over the rest of the field posting his second win of the Winter Flurry season. The final feature of the day was the Bandolero Bandits feature with Austin Hill (Winston) pacing the field to the green flag. Hill led every lap, remaining undefeated in his class for the Winter Flurry season, winning all five events. The final Winter Flurry season race will take place on March 18 during the Golden Corral 500 weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Stay tuned to for updates.
