The Atlanta Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities held its spring fundraiser on Saint Patrick's Day. Because of the generosity of participating corporate suite holders at Atlanta Motor Speedway, the Atlanta Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities was able to sponsor a unique "Festival of Suites" fundraiser during the Golden Corral 500 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup race weekend.

In total, the event raised more than $122,000 for local charities. Approximately $18,500 in personal and corporate donations were collected, $36,500 in sponsorship money was donated, nearly $12,000 in auction items were purchased and more than $56,000 came from individual suite tickets sales.

Event guests had the opportunity to visit participating suites, bid on a selection of unique auction items, sample foods from a variety of cuisines and mingle with top NASCAR drivers. Each participant enjoyed watching Georgia Power NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Qualifying night as well as the John Deere 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race from a luxury suite.

Fans and NASCAR drivers were greeted by event emcees from a local radio station and television personality Dan Elliott. The Atlanta chapter of Speedway Children's Charities would like to thank Richard Petty, David Green, Regan Smith, Ron Young, David Stremme, Reed Sorenson, Todd Kluever, Ken Schrader and Joe Nemechek, as well as event sponsors - Homelife Communities, Legacy Communities, Georgia Pediatric Cardiology, Mitsui Babcock and The Marcus Institute.

The Atlanta chapter of Speedway Children's Charities was founded in 1994 and over the past 10 years has donated $2 million to local organizations. For more information about Speedway Children's Charities, visit
