Construction is complete at Atlanta Motor Speedway, bringing a close to nearly $23 million in improvements and additions. Speedway Motorsports Inc. chairman O. Bruton Smith with NEXTEL Cup Series drivers Mark Martin, Carl Edwards, Bobby Labonte and Kasey Kahne all were at the Speedway today previewing the new Club One and unveiling the Bass Pro Shops 500 race winner's trophy called "Big Roar." Including the wooden base, "Big Roar," a bronze grizzly bear, stands more than 8 feet tall and weighs in at nearly 300 pounds. The unveiling took place in front of the Winners Gallery, which pays tribute to past NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race winners at AMS. Labonte leads all active drivers with six victories at AMS, both Mark Martin and Carl Edwards have two wins at NASCAR's fastest track, while Kahne scored his first AMS victory in March, 2006. In addition to Club One, AMS's new luxury seating option, the Winners Grandstand located in Turn 1 is also complete. Of the 13,000 seats in the Winners Grandstand, approximately 7,700 are individual chair-back seats, complete with cup holders. In addition to the Winners Grandstand and Club One which sits atop it, speedway officials also created a new Trackside Terrace Luxury RV parking area. Located along the backstretch, the new RV parking area is a paved lot which offers water, electrical and sewer hook ups and an extraordinary view of the track.
