Speedway Presidents Place Friendly Wager on College Bowl Game
Friday, December 15, 2006
With the college bowl season just around the corner, Richmond International Raceway president and Virginia Tech graduate Doug Fritz has made a friendly wager with Atlanta Motor Speedway president Ed Clark. The Chick-Fil-A Bowl in Atlanta on December 30 will feature Fritz's beloved Hokies taking on the Georgia Bulldogs at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
So what are they wagering? The winner will receive famous foods from the loser's respective state as payment. If Virginia Tech wins, Fritz will receive a basket of Georgia peaches and Georgia pecans from Clark. But if Georgia wins, Clark will get a Virginia ham and peanuts from Fritz.
"As a native of Keysville, Virginia, I'd rather pull for Virginia Tech," Clark said. "But I like Virginia ham and peanuts so much, I hope Georgia wins."
"I'm going to the game, so I'll expect immediate payment of my basket of peaches and pecans after Virginia Tech stomps Georgia," said Fritz. "The food will be perfect for the 8-hour drive back to Richmond."
