Atlanta Motor Speedway is striding into summer with one of the track's busiest and most exciting weeks of the year that includes Hollywood celebrities at Thursday Thunder, Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue racing at Friday Night Drags and the DukesFest and Hazzard County Fair in a four-day span.

Thursday Thunder - June 26

Week four of Thursday Thunder will feature two Hollywood celebrities competing in Legends cars. John Schneider, famous for his role as Bo Duke in the Dukes of Hazzard, will compete with his good friend, Scott Elrod, who stars as Cash in the current hit ABC series, Men in Trees, in the Chargers division, a class for novice racers.

"I'm thrilled to be back at Atlanta Motor Speedway, especially for DukesFest and to show some skill at Thursday Thunder," said Schneider, who has recorded seven country albums and appeared in multiple television shows since The Dukes of Hazzard. "And the icing of the cake is being able to knock Mr. Men in Trees-actor, Scott Elrod, on his rear.  I didn't do all my own stunts on Dukes for nothing."

In addition, the event will feature a ‘General Lee' replica showcase, nine feature races and the evening is themed Hillbilly Night, so fans are encouraged to dress up as their favorite Dukes character.

Friday Night Drags - June 27

The second points week of Friday Night Drags presented by ACDelco will feature an evening-opening drag race between Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue and Atlanta Motor Speedway president Ed Clark. The no-holds-barred sprint down AMS' eighth-mile pit road drag strip.

"I am excited to participate in Friday night's drag race against my friend Ed Clark," said Governor Sonny Perdue. "Atlanta Motor Speedway continues to serve as a key asset to the state and for race fans new and old. Friday Night Drags is a great setting for people to safely race on the track and not on our public roads."

"We are grateful for Governor Perdue's willingness to help us kick off another great night of Friday Night Drags at Atlanta Motor Speedway," said AMS president and general manager, Ed Clark. "We appreciate his tremendous ongoing support of AMS and our activities. I'm certainly aware of the Governor's competitive nature and he has an unbeaten racing record at AMS. I'm sure he will be doing everything in his power on Friday night to continue his winning streak."
