Joe Momma Night and the Jet Car to Reach 250 mph

Atlanta Motor Speedway's summer racing series, Thursday Thunder, returns to AMS' quarter-mile "Thunder Ring" on July 24 for round eight of the 10-week racing series that runs each Thursday through August 7.

Joe Momma Night will feature a full-slate of Thursday Thunder racing action, a showcase by the Thriller Viper Jet Car and anyone named Joe who brings their mother will both get in free of charge. The evening will also include an autograph session featuring the Charter Communications Pro class drivers as well as weekly concourse activities, grandstand games and on-track excitement.

Joe Momma Night:

Back by popular demand from those named Joe, Atlanta Motor Speedway will host Joe Momma Night at this week's Thursday Thunder. Any fan named Joe accompanied by their mother will be both admitted to Thursday Thunder for free.

"It's finally time for all the Joes out there to get their incredible name appreciated and its great Atlanta Motor Speedway is doing just that," said Joe DeVito of Atlanta, who shares his name with famous athletes Joe Fraiser, Joe Montana and Joe DiMaggio, along with Joseph from the Old Testament. "I think it's awesome Atlanta Motor Speedway is doing something for all the fine people named Joe out there."

Both Joe and his respective mother must show identification at the gate for their free admission to week eight's Thursday Thunder.

Thriller Viper Jet Car:

Reaching speeds of 250 mph on Atlanta Motor Speedway's eighth-mile drag strip, Dick Rosberg will pilot his Thriller Viper Jet Car for Thursday Thunder fans during intermission. Also back by popular demand, the Thriller Viper Jet Car has delighted fans in previous appearances.

According to one fan message board posting; "This thing is just amazing in person and videos don't do it justice. I was standing right beside the fence and the sound of that jet engine and the tires screeching under full throttle will give you chill bumps."

The state-of-the-art Thriller Viper Jet Car is powered by a General Electric J-85 jet engine with an equipped military afterburner. Producing over 6,000 pounds of thrust - the equivalent of 12,000 horsepower - the Thriller Viper is capable of exceeding 350 mph.
