Kicking off drag racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway before the track's Friday Night Drags summer series, Mopar madness will takeover the Speedway's pit lane drag strip for the Mopar Southern Classic on Saturday, May 2.

Atlanta Motor Speedway will serve as the one-day host location for the 2009 Mopar Southern Classic, an all-day event for Mopar enthusiasts. The family-friendly Mopar event will feature the Hotlanta Mopar Challenge of eighth-mile drag racing competition, four speedway cruises of more than 70 mph, a Plymouth Plaza Kid's Corner, a swap meet and a 50/50 drawing. In addition, fans can take photos in Atlanta Motor Speedway's Victory Lane.

Gates open at 8 a.m. for the Mopar Southern Classic and drag racing starts at 11 a.m.

Tickets for the Mopar Southern Classic are just $7 and children ages 11 and younger will be admitted free of charge. Proceeds from the show will benefit local charities.
