Atlanta Motor Speedway's third week of Friday Night Drags points racing featured crossover success, as the first Legends car in Friday Night Drags history made its way to Victory Lane.

A familiar face on the Thursday Thunder summer series circuit, Billy Stevens of Locust Grove piloted a Legends car to Victory Lane on Friday night in the Sport Compact class, the first such occasion in Friday Night Drags history.

"We got to talking and we just figured we would bring a Legends car to drag race and we may as well race to win," said Stevens, who deflected all credit for the win to fellow Thursday Thunder regular Dennis Harry of Harry Motorsports. "It's a lot of fun for the fans when you look out there and see a Legends car competing with Mustangs and tuners. We just wanted to bring some attention to Thursday Thunder and have some fun out here."

In addition to Stevens taking the first-ever Friday night win in a Legends machine, Michelle Ewing of Senoia accomplished a first for the 2009 season by being the first female competitor to claim a win, doing so in the Super Bike class. Seemingly supported by the shouts of every female fan in attendance, Ewing cruised to victory in the finale when her competitor faltered out of the starting box.

Points will be awarded each night during the 13-week points season in every class except the Domestic, Truck and Sport Compact classes. Each division winner will take home three points, second-place two points and the rest of the participants will be awarded one point. The competitor with the most points at the end of the season wins the championship title on September 11. In the event of a tie, the competitor with the most wins will be awarded the title.
