Atlanta Motor Speedway's fourth week of Friday Night Drags was Lucky Ladies Night and Michelle Ewing proved luckiest of all as the only female drag competitor to claim a win.
Ewing of Senoia nosed ahead of her competition in the final-round matchup of the Super Bike class to become the only woman to win on Lucky Ladies Night, when Atlanta Motor Speedway granted free entry for female drag competitors. By virtue of her win, Ewing jumped into first place in the Super Bike standings with six points.
"I love it when a guy thinks he definitely has a female beat and the girl goes and out shows him," said Ewing with a grin from Victory Lane.
With the win, Ewing has posted consecutive victories by successfully defended her week three Super Bike win.
Including Ewing, a remarkable seven competitors posted repeat wins from week three. The back-to-back winners are; Ewing (Super Bike), Frank Taylor (Super Pro), Bill Hatfield (Sportsman), Nicholas Feliciano (Pro Four), Chris Stripling (Street Outlaw), and Jose Samaniego (Tuners). In fact, Samaniego has posted four-consecutive wins (one Pro Four and three Tuners), while Feliciano now has three-consecutive wins in the Pro Four class.
Lucky Ladies Night will return to Atlanta Motor Speedway on Aug. 28, once again giving female competitors free entry to drag race.
Points will be awarded each night during the 13-week points season in every class except the Domestic, Truck and Sport Compact classes. Each division winner will take home three points, second-place two points and the rest of the participants will be awarded one point. The competitor with the most points at the end of the season wins the championship title on September 11. In the event of a tie, the competitor with the most wins will be awarded the title.
