Atlanta Motor Speedway's fifth week of Friday Night Drags featured fireworks to celebrate the Fourth of July weekend and flash from competitors on the track.

Following a spectacular fireworks display to start the evening, Pro Four class points leader Nicholas Feliciano's night began with sparks shooting from beneath his car in a first-round win. Feliciano pressed on throughout the night, advancing to the finals against Woodstock's Chris Moreno. Both competitors shot from the line simultaneously, but Feliciano's typically consistent ride broke just out of the starting box, allowing Moreno to cruise to Victory Lane for his first win of the year.

With a combination of bravado and showmanship rarely seen on the drag strip, Truck Advanced competitor Bill Patrick launched his 1948 Willys from the line with a boost of nitrous oxide (NOS), resulting in an outrageous wheel stand. Seemingly out of control, Patrick pushed the delivery truck's nose to the ground and recovered, managing to beat the competition to the finish. However, the wheel stand caused the Willys to leave its lane, resulting in a disqualification.

In the Super Bike division, emerging fan-favorite Michelle Ewing claimed her third-straight victory, giving the Senoia native the outright points lead. With each consecutive pass and homecoming down the return lane, Ewing was met with unmatched applause from the crowd.

Points will be awarded each night during the 13-week points season in every class except the Domestic, Truck and Sport Compact classes. Each division winner will take home three points, second-place two points and the rest of the participants will be awarded one point. The competitor with the most points at the end of the season wins the championship title on September 11. In the event of a tie, the competitor with the most wins will be awarded the title.
