Opening up the drag strip for all ages on week nine, Atlanta Motor Speedway's Friday Night Drags will add a special 15th class to the action on Friday, July 31.

Kids' Power Wheel Races return to Atlanta Motor Speedway on Friday, adding a 15th division to a schedule that features 14 classes of weekly elimination drag racing action. In addition, week nine will include a "Chevy Owners Rally" special Show-N-Shine car show class.

Kids' Power Wheels Races Return to FND

In addition to 14 classes of straight-line speed, week nine of Friday Night Drags will open the drag strip for Kids' Power Wheel Races. Open to children of all ages, the Kids' Power Wheel Races will allow Atlanta Motor Speedway's star of tomorrow to take to the track in their Power Wheels. The Kids' Power Wheel Race will take place after the Show-N-Shine parade laps at approximately 8:30 p.m. before the beginning of drag eliminations runs.

Chevy Owners Rally

Week nine of Friday Night Drags will feature a Show-N-Shine "Chevrolet Owners Rally" and will award a special trophy to the best-looking bowtie in the Show-N-Shine garage area. Known for trucks, muscle cars and producing the longest mass-produced engine in the world, the Chevrolet small-block V-8, the "Chevrolet Owners Rally" will bring attention to a marque synonymous with Americana, yet is sold on six continents.

Jimmy McDowell won the week eight "Foreign Car Owners' Rally" special Show-N-Shine award in his Smart Car.

The weekly Show-N-Shine car and motorcycle show awards trophies in seven-total classes. Entry is just $20 and includes parade laps on Atlanta Motor Speedway's full 1.54-mile quad oval.

FND Taking One Week Break

With more than 30,000 motorcycle enthusiasts expected to descend upon Atlanta Motor Speedway for the 32nd Annual National Biker's Roundup from Aug. 4 through 9, Atlanta Motor Speedway's Friday Night Drags will not take place on Aug. 7.

After a one-week hiatus on Aug. 7, Friday Night Drags will return to action on Aug. 14 for Double Points Night. While Friday Night Drags will not run on Aug. 7, Atlanta Motor Speedway's pit lane drag strip will be open for motorcycle competition during the 32nd Annual National Biker's Roundup.

The 2009 Friday Night Drags season features heads up, street-style racing on AMS' eighth-mile pit road drag strip, running Friday nights through Sept. 11. Grandstand gates open at 6:30 p.m. and practice drag runs begin at 6:20 p.m. Show N' Shine car show judging begins at 8:20 p.m. with the elimination drag runs starting at approximately 9:00 p.m.

The series is open to any automobile and any driver, provided they possess a valid driver's license. All racers ages 16 and 17 must have a fully-executed minor's release form on file at the speedway prior to competition (forms available at the Speedway or at Competitors must wear an approved helmet and have operational seat belts in the vehicle and pass a pre-race safety inspection.

Entry to drag race or for the Show N' Shine is $20 or competitors can enter both for $30. Spectator admission is only $7 and exterior parking is free, while infield parking is $20.
