With the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series weekend past, Atlanta Motor Speedway charges into fall with a full schedule of racing, highlighted by the speedway’s Friday Night Drags series and the 2012 Legends Asphalt Nationals.The always-popular Friday Night Drags & Show-N-Shine will return for two nights of Fall Stampede action on Sept. 14 and Sept. 21. A full Show-N-Shine, Track Cruise and 17 divisions of drag racing will be on display each night for fans on the eighth-mile pit lane drag strip. The 2012 divisional points champions, as well as the top-10 points finishers in each division, will be honored during the Sept. 21 event.
Gates open at 6:30 p.m. and nightly drag race eliminations start at 9:09 p.m. Entry to drag race or for the Show-N-Shine is just $20 or competitors can purchase a combo ticket for $30. Atlanta Motor Speedway will also host the 2012 Legends Asphalt Nationals, Oct. 25-27 on the quarter-mile “Thunder Ring.” Upwards of 300 Legends, Thunder Roadsters and Bandolero cars will travel to AMS from all over the country to battle one of the toughest short tracks in the country. Legends and Thunder Roadster cars will battle for a National Championship on the AMS short track that weekend, in addition to Bandolero car racing.
Grandstand gates will open at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26 with practice, heat races and the Race of Champions for Legends cars. Grandstand gates will open at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27 with feature races beginning at 2:00 p.m.
Saturday admission will be $10 and $2 for kids ages six through 11. All kids five and under are admitted free. Thursday and Friday admission will be $5 with kids ages 11 and under admitted free.
