Atlanta Motor Speedway officials have added an INEX-sanctioned national short-track points race on Saturday, March 5 to the Speedway's winter racing schedule.

The March 5 event will feature Legends, Bandolero and Thunder Roadsters competing on Atlanta Motor Speedway's quarter-mile "Thunder Ring" for INEX national points one week in advance of the nationwide start of the 2011 INEX points racing season. Atlanta Motor Speedway was selected as one of three tracks nationwide to host a season kick off INEX points event, along with Speedway Motorsports, Inc. sister tracks Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway.

In addition to giving Legends racers their first opportunity to earn INEX points in advance of the 2011 season, the March 5 event will also serve as an added practice prior to the final points race of the 2010-11 Winter Flurry season on Saturday, March 12.

Following the conclusion of the 2010-11 Winter Flurry season, short-track racing will return to Atlanta Motor Speedway for a pair of off-season races on April 10 and May 1, prior to the start of the 2011 Thursday Thunder season on June 2.
