Friday Night Drags once again produced a strong mixture of winners on Friday in the final non-points race prior to its 2010 points opener.

Just one competitor, Kevin Connolly of Hampton won for the second week in a row with just three winners from the season’s first non-points race winning their respective classes. Tony Morse won in the pro division, Stephen Fulton in trucks and Curtis Teal in domestic advanced. All told, 11 racers won their divisions for the first time in 2010 on Friday, setting the table for what should be a very competitive season of Friday Night Drags. There will be no Friday Night Drags on May 28 and the points opener is scheduled for June 4.

One of those to taste victory for the first time in 2010 was Scott Bates of Locust Grove, powering to victory in the sportsman class behind the wheel of a white 1962 Nova Stationwagon.

Friday Night Drags will take May 28 off before resuming June 4 for its points opener. Atlanta Motor Speedway will host Friday Night Drags each Friday throughout the summer before taking Sept. 3 off and holding its championship night on Sept. 10.
