The Buzz Cars, the newest racing division on Atlanta Motor Speedway's ¼-mile "Thunder Ring," will be part of the event lineup when the Speedway hosts an INEX points event on May 11.
While racers in Legends, Bandolero and Thunder Roadsters will be seeking INEX points, drivers looking to compete in the Buzz Car division this summer can use the race to get their car on the track and receive a taste of what it's like to race on the challenging AMS Thunder Ring oval. The Buzz Cars will race each week during the Thursday Thunder series beginning June 2.
Buzz Cars are three or four cylinder front-wheel drive cars that allow individuals to get into racing on a limited budget. Anyone interested in racing a Buzz Car may call (770) 946-3954 for information.
All races will be of a "draw and run" format, meaning drivers will draw for starting positions with hot laps starting at 6 p.m. and feature races at 7:30 p.m.
Spectator grandstands will not be open, pit area admission is $12 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-11 and free for kids ages 5 and under. Pit admission may be purchased at the Speedway's safety command center, located near the facility's main entrance. Driver registration is $25.
The 2011 Thursday Thunder season, Atlanta Motor Speedway's weekly legends racing series, begins June 2 and promises to treat fans with a summer filled with racing on the grassroots level, family fun and entertaining grandstand activities for a very affordable price. Thursday Thunder admission is $6, $2 for kids ages 6-11 and free for kids ages 5 and under.
