The Gift of Lights Holiday Light Spectacular Returns to Atlanta Motor Speedway with New Route for 2013
The Gift of Lights holiday light spectacular returns to Atlanta Motor Speedway Nov. 22 - Jan. 4 and features a new route, more light displays and a plethora of special promotional nights.The all new Gift of Lights route takes visitors through the infield of Atlanta Motor Speedway and onto a portion of the famed 1.54-mile oval. The two-mile drive through route includes more than two-million LED holiday light displays.
Throughout the seven weeks of Gift of Lights, numerous promotional and community nights are scheduled to enhance the visitor experience. The Gift of Lights opens on Nov. 22 and features the lighting of the official AMS Christmas Tree.
Among other promotions on the schedule, the first 500 kids ages 12 and under on Nov. 29 will receive a free Santa hat courtesy of Champion Windows of Atlanta and on Dec. 6 the first 500 cars will receive a free AMS Christmas tree ornament courtesy of Great Clips. Participate in the Gift of Lights car decorating contest on Dec. 21 for an opportunity to win tickets to the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Labor Day weekend race at AMS. Automobile clubs and individuals are encouraged to take part in the Classic Car Night on Nov. 23.
Visitors can receive a $12 discounted admission with the support of local community charitable outreach programs in conjunction with Gift of Lights. Non-perishable food will be collected for the 11Alive Can-A-Thon from Dec. 2-5. From Dec. 9-12, participate in the Speedway Children's Charities coat and blanket drive to benefit A Friend's House, Haven House, Carrie Steele-Pitts Home, Rush Ministries and other local organizations. Toys for Tots will be collecting new unwrapped toys from Dec. 16-19.
On Fridays and Saturdays upon exiting Gift of Lights, Atlanta Motor Speedway has created a Christmas Village in and around the Gift Shop. As the location of the official AMS Christmas tree, the Christmas Village will feature hot chocolate with a donation to benefit Speedway Children's Charities along with local elementary, middle and church choirs singing Christmas carols. Santa will also make a trip from the North Pole for photographs in the AMS Gift Shop lobby. Local Legends and Late Model dirt track cars from the area will be on display in the Christmas Village on Dec. 1, 15 and 29.
Gift of Lights show hours are 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Friday through Sunday and holidays. Cost of entrance will be $15 per car (six passengers or less) Monday through Thursday, $20 per car (six passengers or less) Friday through Sunday and holidays while vans/buses will cost $15 plus $1 per passenger Monday through Thursday and $20 plus $1 per passenger Friday through Sunday and holidays.
