Drag racing is hardly a spectator sport for the husband and wife pair of Dwayne and Ramae Bethune of Covington. While some spouses watch their better halves compete each week at O'Reilly Auto Parts Friday Night Drags, Ramae takes her devotion of the popular street drag racing series a step further.

Ramae races a 2012 Dodge Ram pick-up truck in the Diesel Truck Division, the same one in which her husband Dwayne competes in each week. Dwayne Bethune won last week's final round elimination race in the division, beating Ramae for the first-place trophy. The pair is tied for the lead entering this week's round of drag racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway's pit-lane drag strip.

Despite having a transmission that he admits is "ready to break," Dwayne Bethune has been a mainstay in victory lane this season at Drags, winning four final-round eliminations. He is also a two-time defending champion in the Diesel Truck Division.

Both of the Bethunes being able to get behind the wheel and race, sometimes against one another, carries a lot of meaning for both of them, as Dwayne explains.

"She enjoys it," Dwayne Bethune said. "She doesn't have to sit here and watch, she can get out here and participate."

Interestingly enough, Rama's 2012 Dodge Ram is always the first of the Bethune's two trucks to arrive at O'Reilly Auto Parts Friday Night Drags each week. Her truck pulls a trailer hauling Dwayne's 2006 Dodge Ram behind it each week as the two trucks enter the Speedway's infield and head toward the drag racing pit area.

Kids Candy Scramble This Week

The candy scramble will take place on the grass ball field near the starting line at approximately 8:30 pm. Kids participating will be divided up by age before the candy scramble begins. During the event, all kids will have the chance to gather up as much candy as possible.
