Hello again, race fans! This is Atlanta Motor Speedway President and GM Ed Clark with the latest installment of the Inside Line, the exclusive newsletter for you, the members of the Atlanta Motor Speedway Insiders Club!
Let's talk some racing!
In less than 55 days, we'll be NASCAR night racing here at Atlanta Motor Speedway! And as that time draws closer, the AdvoCare 500 will become even more important for drivers looking to solidify their spot in the Chase for the Championship! If a driver has a bad race in the next week or two, there's still time for them to bounce back and get back into the hunt for a Chase spot. But if they run poorly here on Labor Day Weekend, it's a whole different story.
If the Chase field were to be set now, Kurt Busch and Tony Stewart would qualify with the final two spots among drivers in the top ten of the points standings with Martin Truex, Jr. and Kasey Kahne picking up wild card spots. Among those drivers who would be missing the Chase at this point? Jeff Gordon and defending Sprint Cup champion Brad Keselowski.
The drivers in and out of the Chase change weekly, and odds are that the fight for a berth in the Chase will come down to the wire. You can bet that a number of drivers will be "feeling the heat" when they arrive here on Labor Day Weekend!
Ask The GM
Are One-Day Pre-Race Pit Passes Available For Race Weekend?
Yes! Fans can purchase pre-race pit passes for Saturday only for $75 or $100 for Sunday only! Pre-race pit passes grant you access to the pits up to an hour before track activity! There's something special about being in the pit area before a race. You have cars being rolled out to the grid and teams prepping pit boxes for the race. It truly is an electric atmosphere - you can feel the energy building up as you witness the start of the race is getting closer!
