Georgia native David Ragan, a two-time winner in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, was in Macon Tuesday to promote the upcoming AdvoCare 500 NASCAR night race weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

"Atlanta's a favorite track of a lot of drivers," Ragan said. "It's very abrasive. It's a night race so the speeds are always fast and you race hard."

While in Macon, Ragan toured the Masonic Children's Home of Georgia where he signed autographs for children at the home and presented tickets to the Sept. 1 AdvoCare 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Jake's Ice Cream, the Official Ice Cream of Atlanta Motor Speedway, was also on site and served.

Ragan's day also included a round of media availability with local news outlets. The event was a homecoming of sorts for Ragan, whose hometown of Unadilla, Ga. is a little less than an hour south of Macon.

"We greatly appreciate David taking time out of his schedule to help promote the Biggest Labor Day Party in the USA, especially during an off week for NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams and drivers," said Atlanta Motor Speedway President and General Manager Ed Clark. "Atlanta Motor Speedway is pleased to welcome guests from the Masonic Children's Home of Georgia to watch the AdvoCare 500 live as well."
