The 2013-2014 Winter Flurry season at Atlanta Motor Speedway opened Friday night with Legends and Bandolero cars in action under the lights on the quarter-mile Thunder Ring. The opening night of racing in the eight-week winter season gave drivers a chance to get back behind the wheel as they battle for the winter championship.

In the combined Legends feature, Young Lions Woodrow Mullis of Hoboken took the checkered flag after he led the final nine laps. Mullis slipped by Masters Scott Mosley of McDonough on lap 11 and could not be caught. The race began with a three car pile-up on the opening lap that cut the night short for Semi-Pro driver Taylor Jorgensen of Stockbridge as she got tangled up in turn two with Masters Chris Bowie of Douglasville and Semi-Pro Mark Younginer of Stockbridge. Younginer was able to recover from the early incident and posted a third-place finish overall while Bowie finished seventh.

Scott Mosley of McDonough earned second overall and captured the top spot in the Masters division. Younginer's third-place finish overall was tops in the Semi-Pro division.

Outlaw Ashton Winger of Fayetteville won the combined Bandolero feature from the pole as he led the race from flag to flag. A heated battle for second over the first 19 laps saw numerous lead changes between Outlaw Taylor Jorgensen of Stockbridge and Bandit Chandler Smith of Talking Rock. They made contact and spun between turns three and four on the final lap which pushed both driver to the back of the pack. Bandit Clay Thompson slipped by the crash and finished second overall and earned the top spot in his respective division.

Hayden Swank of Woodstock captured the checkered flag in the Beginner Bandits feature. Ryan Howell of McDonough earned a second place finish while Lexi Gay of Canton was third.

Week Two of the affordable, family-friendly winter racing series Winter Flurry returns to Atlanta Motor Speedway on Dec. 14. Spectators are afforded the opportunity to access the garage area with an infield spectator ticket for just $12 for adults, $5 for children ages six through 11 and is free for children ages five and younger.
