Below is a statement from Atlanta Motor Speedway President & GM Ed Clark on the passing of Buddy Baker, who won twice at Atlanta and is tied with Ryan Newman for the most pole positions in track history.

"Buddy Baker was a driver who drove as hard as anyone who has ever competed in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. He was very serious about his trade, and went all out in everything that he did. Without question, Buddy Baker is one of the people who crafted and helped make NASCAR what it is today."

"Buddy enjoyed life and was just a fun person to be around, whether it was at the track, in the broadcast booth on the lake fishing or anywhere else. In his broadcasting career, Buddy endeared himself to young and old fans with his wit and past experiences in racing, making him one of the most enjoyable racing broadcasters of our time."

"Atlanta Motor Speedway sends its thoughts and prayers to all of Buddy's friends and family during this time."
