Top-10 Can't-Miss Attractions at This Weekend's Summit Racing Equipment Atlanta Motorama at AMS
One of the largest and fastest-growing automotive festivals of its kind in the Southeast, the Summit Racing Equipment Atlanta Motorama, returns to Atlanta Motor Speedway this Saturday and Sunday with acres upon acres of motor-centric events and attractions for auto enthusiasts of all ages. With so much going on and just two days of the festival, AMS has gathered its top-10 can't miss attractions for fans attending this weekend's show below.
1. BIGFOOT® monster trucks
No matter how old you are or how many times you've seen cars obliterated by the biggest, baddest trucks in the world, BIGFOOT never fails to amaze! Catch two car-crushing demonstrations each day of the event. Plus, snap a picture with BIGFOOT No. 5, the largest, heaviest pickup truck in the world.
2. The oldest continually driven car in Georgia
In the Million Dollar Salon, you can feast your eyes upon the exceedingly rare 1909 Stevens Duryea Torpedo Speedster. Owned by Fayetteville's Jack and Drena Miller, the century-old relic still runs like a champ and is easily the longest-running vehicle in the Peach State.
3. Kenny Bartram's Steel Rodeo
World class motocross daredevil Kenny Bartram brings for the first time to the Atlanta Motorama his gravity-defying Steel Rodeo freestyle motocross team and its high-flying, edge-of-your-seat stunts. Catch one, two or all three of their shows each day in the Extreme Motorsports section of the AMS infield.
4. Show Car Garage
Motorama attendees can scope out dozens of top-of-the-line, award-winning cars from both the classic and modern eras in the Atlanta Motorama Show Car Garage. Featured vehicles this year include rare and priceless cars from each decade from the 1920s through the 1960s.
5. "Big Daddy" Don Garlits
Meet "Big Daddy" himself, Don Garlits, the father of modern day drag racing. Garlits, who perfected the design for the rear-engine, top-fuel dragster, was the first to eclipse the 170, 180, 200, 240, 250 and 270 mph marks on quarter-mile drag strips. He'll visit the Bojangles' Main Stage for Q&A sessions each day and will also display one of his original "Swamp Rat" rail dragsters.
6. Hot Rodders of Tomorrow regional qualifier
If you've never seen a car engine taken completely apart and reassembled in a matter of minutes, you'll want to check out the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow competitions. Twenty-five participating high school programs from around the region will meet at this national qualifier to race against the clock and each other as they attempt to earn a spot in the dual national Hot Rodders of Tomorrow finals in Las Vegas and Indianapolis this fall.
7. The famous Georgia Peanut Butter and Jelly Milkshake
After its debut at the 2016 Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 NASCAR Weekend in February, the fan-favorite and highly addictive frozen treat is reason in itself to visit the Atlanta Motorama this weekend. Fans can satiate their PB&J milkshake cravings for just $5 apiece, but you might as well plan for seconds or even thirds! Plus, a wide range of popular carnival edibles will also be available all weekend long.
8. The Motorama Bikefest "Pro Challenge"
The Motorama Bikefest "show within a show" will this year feature the "Pro Challenge" biker build-off. Catch the latest innovations in design from some of the nation's best and most prominent bike builders as they compete for awards selected by the pros.
9. Drive a go-kart
Kick your Motorama experience up a notch by sliding behind the wheel of a souped-up go-kart from No Limits Go-Karting on a dedicated kart-racing track. Challenge friends and family for the ultimate Motorama bragging rights for just $10 per race.
10. The massive vendor midway
Custom parts, accessories, electronics, interiors, and everything else: it'll all be available at the gigantic vendor midway, where more than 200 unique local and national merchants will be set up to help you find exactly what you're looking for to complete your most demanding automotive project.
