Five Reasons For Fans To Be Fired Up For NASCAR Race Weekend at AMS!
It goes without saying that the excitement level is building here at Atlanta Motor Speedway. With the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 less than 50 days away, the pace around AMS property is becoming more feverish by the day. Little by little, details are falling into place as we prepare to welcome fans back to the track for a great weekend of racing!
Here are five things to be excited about as race weekend approaches!
Racing really gets going!
If you want to see for yourself who the top early-season drivers will be, there's no better place to be than Atlanta Motor Speedway for the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 NASCAR weekend. After nearly two weeks of racing with restrictor-plate set-ups, teams will try their hand at the new 2016 low-downforce aerodynamic package starting at Atlanta Motor Speedway!
This package drew rave reviews from drivers and fans during the two events that it was used last year as it put racing more in the hands of the drivers and less on the cars. If what was seen last year measures up to anything, highly competitive racing throughout the field is to be expected.
Atlanta will also be a place for drivers to make an early statement. Jimmie Johnson's victory here last season sent a strong message that the No. 48 team would be a force to be reckoned with, and a strong day by Chris Buescher in last year's NASCAR XFINITY Series event started what would be a championship season on the right foot.
Sunny Days Ahead!
With an average high temperature of 61 degrees for the weekend of Feb. 28, we're looking forward to the bright times ahead during the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 NASCAR weekend of racing. We're guaranteeing good weather to enjoy all three NASCAR series at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
In the unlikely event that the temperature fails to reach 50 degrees on Saturday or Sunday or if precipitation postpones the race, there is a credit available through our Perfect Race Weather guarantee.

New era begins for a pair of rookies
With a nod to the past, a new era will begin in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series here at Atlanta Motor Speedway at the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500.
Chase Elliott, son of NASCAR legend and Hall of Famer Bill Elliott, will carry on the racing legacy of the Elliott name, taking the reigns of the No. 24 car in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
But Atlanta fans will also see another young hotshot in one of the sport’s most iconic numbers. Ryan Blaney will take on full-time duties for the Wood Bros. No. 21, a car that will have Team Penske horsepower under the hood. If what Elliott and Blaney have shown in the NASCAR XFINITY Series means anything, an early chapter in an epic rookie battle will take place at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Hauler parade through downtown Hampton
It’s become an unofficial kickoff to race weekend - the NASCAR hauler parade and Speed Lane induction in downtown Hampton.
After the newest member of the City of Hampton’s Speed Lane is inducted, team transporters will parade down Main Street en route to entering the main infield tunnel at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Fans can not only get a close look at their favorite driver’s car being transported, but the event also serves as a reminder that race weekend for all intents and purposes has arrived at Atlanta Motor Speedway!
Stagefront access with pre-race pit passes!
It’ll be easy to be in the midst of the stagefront activity before the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500! Pre-race pit passes will once again grant access to being in front of the stage for driver introductions and pre-race festivities before NASCAR’s best drivers take on Atlanta Motor Speedway for 500 miles of thrilling racing!
Priced at $100 for Sunday ($50 for children ages 17 & under) or $125 for the entire weekend, pre-race pit passes are racing’s version of pre-game sideline passes. You can get an up-close look as teams feverishly prep the pit areas for the race as cars are also rolled out toward the grid as the anticipation for the green flag quickly approaches.
It goes without saying that a few hours roaming the pits before the race will have fans highly eager for the start of the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500! Click here for pre-race pit pass information!
