Year-Round, Atlanta Motor Speedway Remains A Busy Place
It's not uncommon for fans to ask us, "so what do you guys do at the track the other 11 months of the year?" The answer to that question? Quite a lot!
Throughout all twelve months of each year, Atlanta Motor Speedway remains a busy place! While a majority of our efforts are directed towards the Labor Day Weekend of NASCAR night racing, AMS stays busy year-round with a variety of events. In fact, there is some sort of track activity at Atlanta Motor Speedway on an average of more than 200 days each year!
We recently wrapped up the eighth year and seventh full season of our popular grassroots drag racing series, Friday Night Drags & Show-N-Shine. An average of more than 250 cars and motorcycles of various types showcased their speed on the pit lane drag strip in a season marked by the debut of a new concrete launching pad and starting tree.
We also saw first-hand some of the top racers of tomorrow during another exciting season of Legends and Bandolero racing at Thursday Thunder. Drivers such as David Ragan, Reed Sorenseon, Joey Logano, Chase Elliott and Austin Dillon have risen up the racing ranks after racing Thursday Thunder. We can't wait to see who the next driver to join this select group will be!
August also marked the debut of the SYLVANIA Silverstar® zXe Global Rallycross Atlanta. Anyone who was here for that event can attest to the fact that it was a very exciting display of racing with cars racing on a dirt surface made up of tight turns, water and ramp jumps!
But 2013 is far from over, and the same holds true for track activity here at Atlanta Motor Speedway. This fall, AMS will host a handful of offseason Legends races and 5K races. In October, we'll welcome a large number of RV enthusiasts with the Camping World/Good Sam RV Rally Oct. 17-20 in addition to another installment of the Sweet Repeats Consignment Sale at the start of the month, Oct. 3-5.
We'll wrap up October with the return of thrill rides, live animals and more at the Georgia State Fair Oct. 25-Nov. 3.
And can you believe that Christmas will be here soon? That means the return of the annual Christmas light display at Atlanta Motor Speedway! More than a million LED lights will greet you at one of the area's top holiday light parks, and this year will feature a completely different vehicle route!
As always, you can stay up to date on all upcoming events at Atlanta Motor Speedway by bookmarking the schedule link.
So whether you are here for NASCAR race weekend or joining us for a bevy of other events throughout the year, we look forward to seeing you at Atlanta Motor Speedway!
