Experience isn’t turning out to be a requisite for going fast at Atlanta Motor Speedway as drivers ready for tonight’s Good Sam 200.

Of the top five fastest drivers in the final practice, three are rookies with at least one, Joey Coulter, competing for the first time at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Rookie Cole Whitt led the final practice followed by another driver in his second full-time season in the series, Austin Dillon. James Buescher and two other rookies follow him on the speed chart, Parker Kligerman and Joey Coulter.

Nelson Piquet Jr., who was seventh, ran the most laps in the final session at 34. Ryan Newman and Kyle Busch each posted strong times, with the fast lap of 170.821 putting Newman 22nd and Busch’s lap of 172.345 good for 12th.

Qualifying is at 5 p.m. today, followed by NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice.
