Version of Petty's 1964 car to be at the Summit Racing Equipment Atlanta Motorama Presented by Classic Collectors Insurance & zMAX
A version of a car driven to victory by Richard Petty in the 1964 Daytona 500 will be featured April 26-27 at Atlanta Motor Speedway during the Summit Racing Equipment Atlanta Motorama presented by Classic Collectors Insurance & zMAX.
A 1964 Plymouth will be featured at the Petty's Garage display in the Motorama show car garage, giving event visitors an up-close view of a car raced by Petty out of one of the most successful garages in NASCAR history. Of Petty's 200 race victories, all but a handful of them came under the Petty Enterprises banner.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of Petty's first Daytona 500 win in 1964, the same year of his first of seven series championships.
Petty's car will be part of the Petty's Garage display at Motorama that will showcase the high-performance speed shop based out of the same famous compound that housed Petty Enterprises through decades of NASCAR victories and championships. Petty Enterprises has amassed a total of 268 NASCAR Sprint Cup victories. While a majority of those wins have come from Richard Petty, other race winners include Lee Petty, Buddy Baker and Marvin Panch.
The display will also feature one of Petty's Garage's high-performance vehicles, a 2014 Header Orange Dodge Challenger SRT. The car is upgraded above the specifications typically seen among most streetcars. Its engine is capable of producing in excess of 625 horsepower. The standard 2014 Dodge Charger by comparison, produces around 370 horsepower.
Petty’s Garage will additionally offer Motorama guests the opportunity to upgrade stock Dodge Chargers. The staff at Petty’s Garage will be able to make adjustments to Dodge Chargers on site at Motorama, increasing their horsepower and tuning them into a high-performance car. Visitors can also gain information regarding other high-performance parts produced by Petty’s Garage.
Motorama spectator admission is $12 per day. Kids ages 6 through 11 will be admitted for $5, with kids 5 and under being admitted free.
