The 10th season of O'Reilly Auto Parts Friday Night Drags kicks off its official points season tomorrow night in Week 5 of the popular street-style drag racing series at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Cars, trucks, motorcycles and even ATVs in 18 different racing classes will take to the pit lane drag strip Friday night as the lights go green on spirited season-long battles for coveted division championships.

Last season, half of the 18 division champions were still undetermined heading into the final night of the season, including the Harbin's Mechanical Super Pro Division. In the end, Billy Clevenger outpaced the rest of the field with his Chevrolet Corvette and wrapped up his first title in the series' fastest racing division.

"It's been a long time coming," he said after wrapping up the win last season. "We've been doing this for eight years out here, and it's our first championship."

Clevenger will again face stiff competition from Robert Chaney, who pilots a powerful American Dragster and enters the points season with three consecutive wins to begin the season.

Other notable returnees include 2015 champions Chris Morgan in the Harding Plumbing Heating and Cooling Domestic Division, David Clevenger in the Active Pest Control Pro Division and Doug Anglin in the HeadsUpGeorgia.com Street Modified Division.

Helping to kick off the season points opener with a bang Friday night will be 78-year-old Benny the Bomb. Considered a legend in his niche industry, Benny will lock himself in Port-O-John and blow it up with dynamite. In his lengthy pyrotechnic career, Benny has toured the globe, appearing four times on The Tonight Show, as the centerfold in National Enquirer and as a feature story in publications worldwide. He has also done shows in the Astrodome, the Rose Bowl and at Daytona Bike Week and once opened for the Rolling Stones.

Spectator admission for O'Reilly Auto Parts Friday Night Drags is just $8, and children 5 and under are admitted free. Exterior parking is free, and infield parking is available for $20. Grandstand gates open at 6:30 p.m., and drag racing eliminations start just after 9 p.m. For more information, contact the Atlanta Motor Speedway ticket office at (770) 946-4211, (877) 9-AMS-TIX or visit www.atlantamotorspeedway.com.
