The sky over Atlanta Motor Speedway will erupt in dazzling colors this Friday night with the End-of Summer Fireworks Spectacular as an added promotion to the Week 13 lineup of O'Reilly Auto Parts Friday Night Drags and Show-N-Shine.

The special-edition, family-friendly pyrotechnic show will celebrate the unofficial end of the summer, as local area schools prepare to get back in session starting early next week.

Once the fireworks show has concluded, drivers on the pit lane drag strip will get down to brass tacks as they chase divisional championships in one of the most popular organized street-style drag racing series in the country.

If the current driver standings are any indication, the racing will be tight, as drivers refuse to give even an inch on the 1/8-mile strip. Among the 18 racing divisions, the race for the lead in nine of them is separated between its top drivers by a mere three points or less. And with just four nights remaining in the 2016 season, each race becomes more monumental with precious few points available and coveted spoils on the line.

Division champions will receive not only bragging rights and a trophy, but their choice of four tickets to NHRA events later this year at their choice of either zMAX Dragway in Charlotte or The Strip in Las Vegas.

Week 13 action will also lead into next week's first-ever War on Wheels presented by Harbin's Mechanical Services, an all-new, high-stakes drag racing challenge featuring two divisions and more than $3,000 in purse money. The divisions will consist of a 28"/29" and 275 drag radial tires division and a hard-tire division, each with cash payouts to the top-finishing drivers.

The 28"/29" and 275 drag radial tire division will include a $1,000 guaranteed winner's purse plus racers' pot for the winner, a $250 purse for the runner-up and a $50 purse for the semi-final round losers. Wheelie bars, double framerails and pro mods will not be allowed, and there will be a $20 buyback for first round of competition.

The hard-tire division will include a $500 guaranteed winner's purse plus racers' pot, a $250 purse for the runner-up and a $50 purse to the semi-final round losers. Hard tires are required, and wheelie bars are prohibited. The $20 cash buyback will also be available in the division's first round of competition.

Friday's fireworks show will launch just after dark and will be visible from the AMS infield, as well as the grandstands. Spectator gates open at 6:30 p.m., and general admission tickets are just $8, with kids 5 and under admitted free. Fans may also park on the infield and participate in the Speedway Cruise for just $20 per vehicle. There is no extra charge to watch the fireworks show. Drag racing eliminations will begin just after 9 p.m. and will break for the fireworks.
